Awful reffing, lot of weak calls on both end.

Germany have been bad in last two games. Wagner and Schroder have been shooting badly in both. So if Finland somehow succeeds to force those two to take jump shots, maybe there is a chance. Germany still a huge favorite, but Finland have improved their game after group stage, while Germany's game have worsened.

Because FIBA banned the EuroLeague refs. The refs in European club competitions are reviewed and graded. The best ones are the EuroLeague refs, and they were banned by FIBA, due to their petty fight over who controls the EuroLeague.

The Germans were more aggressive and physical in defense throughout the entire game. It's just the way they play. And that's fine. But I think they should have had at least the same number of personal fouls, if not more, than Slovenia. But they had 7 fewer. They also had 12 more free throws. That is, at best, a poorly chosen standard, and at worst, simply just bad. With this team, Germany would beats Slovenia 9.5 out of 10 games if the refereeing were even. I don’t know why they need help. Slovenia was running out of steam anyway; they probably would have given in and lost anyway. But the feeling would have been better for everyone.

Theis contributed for sure... but I saw so many lobs by Slovenia because he stepped out too soon.

Finland should be in the Final - it all depends if they will play 5on5 or 5on8.

My prediction:
Finland-Turkey in the Final

The winners parade will take place in the world's northernmost metropolitan area with over one million inhabitants.

You realize that Slovenia tried to stop every fastbreak with a foul? That alone put them in the bonus every quarter. Refs were bad but the foulmanagement by Slovenia wasn't that smart either. And don't get me started with all those Ts they didn't receive for arguing and disrespecting the refs constantly.

It's strange that so many people in this thread seem to think Theis is good on defense.

He's a liability on defense against any good offensive team.

Also... I stopped watching when GER was down 7. Able to log back in and saw Obst make a 3 for a 3pt lead. What happened lol?

Was I the bad luck for GER? jk

For every smart foul used to stop a fast break there was a tick tack soft foul called on them, that wasn't on the other side. The only reason fouls are even that close numbers wise is because Doncic got a favorable call here and there.

All those Ts? You make it sound like there were 5. There were 2. Based on your argument I can concede the second. The first however was right at the start, hardly enough time to "build up the disrespect" and with no warning which is usually given.

Refs were horrible tonight. The fouls on Luka were silly, the tech as well. He didn't really do anything. I felt that they made poor calls both ways but at the end every contact fighting for the rebound where it was a 50/50 situation was a foul in favor of Germany, Slovenia got tilted, and lost focus.

Refs on these FIBA games are really bad. What's hilarious is when they are mice'd and you sometimes see that they lack understanding of the game that most fans have. Insanity.

I thought the 1st T was for flopping? I watched with no sound though

edit: I'm wrong on this

Germany got lucky. Anyway, I can't wait for Luka in a few days for training camp.

The main issue is that the Euroleague and FIBA split. That means that the referees are 3rd tier Euro refs at best. Unfortunately, that diminishes the quality of the games to a certain extent. It was already noticeable in 2023 and during the Olympics.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

The EuroLeague has the world's best refs, and they don't officiate the biggest FIBA tournaments.

That's just stupid.

Im just dumbfounded, i mean if im the GER coach and i see Dennis havin a stinker of a game and i see Franz being unstoppable AND getting called in his drives, why would i sic him on Luka? Id rather let him go ham in the offensive end.

Then again im not a coach and they still won sonoh well..

I still don't get the logic in why Germany didn't keep Gordie Herbert as their head coach.

I've never even heard of there being a best defender award at EuroBasket.
