I want to see the Giannis/Turner/Sims arms outstretched across the court photo.

Doc Rivers team def ratings since 15-16:

LAC:
16: 5th
17: 12th
18: 20th
19: 21st
20: 5th
PHI:
21: 2
22: 12
23: 9
24: N/A
25: 12

I don't have any faith in Doc Rivers being able to take the pieces a team has and put them in the best position to succeed offensively or defensively.

So when's this AJ Green extension getting done?

Some on this board have speculated he'll be the piece to put a trade package over the top instead. But I haven't seen a trade scenario that seems worth going that route.

Thinking Horst might be negotiating tough but Dairy Bird will be here to stay:

Letting Green reach free agency is Bucks' worst-case outcome

Green is primed for a breakout year in 2025-26. Across the board last season, he showed substantial growth. Earning trust as a nightly rotation piece, he shot a career-best 42.7 percent on threes on nearly double the volume. He put up per 36 averages of 11.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, respectable figures for an efficient 3-and-D player. He played his way into Doc Rivers' last-gasp starting lineup in the playoffs.

His on-off metrics suggest an even greater impact. His plus-7.3 rating ranked second on the team behind Giannis. Tight defense, an underrated strength of Green's, underlies both his increase in playing time and startling on-off differential.

There won't be a better opportunity down the road. If the Bucks wait to extend him until midseason, they could end up paying a higher price. In fact, he could decide to eschew extension offers altogether in order to test the free agency market. Once other teams caught on to his sneaky value, the Milwaukee Bucks would be forced into a bidding war to keep him.

Those are pretty good though? even the bad years in LA those were teams playing big minutes to Tobes, Gallinari, and Lou Williams.

One of those bad LA years, they were absolutely ravaged by injuries. The other one, they won 48 in the West and really had no business doing that. Doc is not a top tier coach but he's not a bad coach either, except in the sense that anything other than top tier is bad.

So far, Horst has shown a great competency for getting deals done with the players that he wants to sign. It will get done. There shouldn't be any anxiety over this.

What those numbers tell me is that Doc can't scheme his way to a top-tier defense, but if the defensive personnel is top-tier his scheme won't prevent a defense from being top-tier

Cormac Ryan sounds like one of the worlds of the outer rim in Star Wars.

Wasn't that the shooter who looked really good at everything except shooting?

AJ Green and Tyler Smith for Tari Eason

Kyle Kuzma and Andre Jackson for DeMar Derozan (small partial guarantee for 2026, I believe)

Let Coffey and Cormac battle it out for final spot.

Have to bring DeMar off bench and stagger with Giannis. At his age, maybe agreeable to it. Not saying I endorse it, but brings in high upside big wing that we haven’t had for a test drive and maintains some cap flexibility for next year.
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

raferfenix wrote:Maybe Doc and Horst maximally want competition in training camp for the rotation much less roster.

Coffey, Ajax and Tyler Smith fighting Survivor-style to make the team could be feeding into that bigger project.

Smith is awful, he won’t be fighting for anything.

Replacing an NBA level player with a 26 year old rookie who can’t really shoot would be tragic.
