With that being said he is still a great guy - even went to shake hands with the entire German bench after the game

Yes, he is easy to hate for an opponent

But he is still one of the greatest player in the world and we will miss him for sure.

Mind sharing the comments he made? I am well-versed in the crybaby Luka on the court, but would love to know more about the after. It may make me feel a little less bitter about the trade.

It was nothing like he's describing  Luka was nominated for a defensive player of the tournament and MVP. He's had a historic run, not seen in the last 35+ years of FIBA basketball. I think he's just trying to make himself feel better now that Nico traded him :D

It's a common knowledge now that this was one of the worst reffed games ever in basketball and bad calls went both sides. Luka picked up ghost fouls and a T which should have never even be a T in the first 3 minutes. That already almost derailed the game for Slovenia. Then he picked up 4th foul when Schroeder tried to set up a charge but was moving and wasn't even standing in the right spot, that should have been and1. Schroeder was flopping like Embiid 2.0 entire game.

But what was happening afterwards and specially in the last 5 mins of the game, should be studied. Slovenian only center picked up 2 quick fouls on Theis even though he barely did anything. Then another Slovenian player who even barely touched a German player, was T'ed up, etc.... You should have watched the game to fully understand what kind of nonsense these refs were doing entire game.

Would just like to add that entire team and coach congratulated Germany for the win, it had nothing to do with them. It was mostly refs that were insanely bad. If you want to see how a game of 5v8 looks like, re-watch this match.

If it makes you feel better, Franz Wagner was asked after the game if Luka looks better now and he said "He always looked like this" lmao... So maybe he's still fat :D

The whole Slovenian team made the refs the antagonists from minute minus-1. Your coach was in praying mantis position from the get go. Flopping and exaggerating contact on anything.

And it was not just this game. It was every game! The cherry on top is constantly asking for reviews on fouls that are 100% clean and not even questionable.

I sat in disbelieve last game before the Semis then the refs followed up on a review your coach begged for just to reaffirm their position that there was absolutely nothing malicious on that particular play.

At some point - you got what you asked for. Refs were sick and tired from that act and now you are out.

Good!

Eurobasket is one of the highest basketball competitions that has top NBA stars in it. Unfortunately FIBA is using 3rd grade refs because top Euroleague officials are not allowed.

And also, German coaches and players complained just as much lol. I said it went both ways.

I'm sure that's how games should be referred, based on like or dislike of characters involved.

You have in Fiba competition some of the best players in the world and 3rd level referees. Those nobodies tend to believe they are stars of the competition.

Luka should just talk with his Nba friends, nobody is satisfied with referring, and boycott competition for a year or two and let's see, if something changes. Or maybe those referees are really stars and they can bring big money too. I'm sure stars will rather spend few months on the beach instead of playing for NT. I'm sure Jokic is not coming next year anyway. Giannis will probably take a break too, if he wins medal. Luka should do the same. He would at least avoid criticism from couch managers and rather have good time with family.

That's an impressively biased account of events

I wouldn't agree with most of this.

But to answer the actual question Luka made money gestures and cried from minute one of the game (hence beeing rightfully T'd up within 3 minutes - something we've had to deal with a number of times as well in NBA games) and post game basically the entire Slovenia staff tried to put their inability to play any cohesive basketball in the second half and having one of the worst rosters outside of their star player on the refs.

He did money gestures? Bad Luka.

More excuses

What excuses? It's literally a fact that 3rd grade refs were used in Eurobasket. And it's a fact that a stacked Germany barely beat 1 player

This was the foul that changed entire flow of the game. And i did say bad calls went both ways. It's just that last 4 or 5 mins were absolutely horrible and pretty much one sided. Still Germany deserved to win.

Guys the 7h place for Slovenia is insane. No joke.

You can hate Doncic but respect the nation. Please.

I know that bad Luka news are more appreciated here, but here we have one about his performance, which was kinda solid. ;)
