Yeah no stars go to free agency anymore. They're either elderly or just extend. You gotta have contracts to trade for them now.

Giddey was on a restricted contract and he's not viewed as favorably as many seem to think. Being a guard, any guard, not named Tyler Herro doesn't get you an automatic boost outside of this forum.
Why would Giddey help Tyler settle? I hope you don't think Tyler is getting only Josh Giddey money. He makes more than that now. If anything, it makes it more likely Herro gets his money.

I was more so speaking from the standpoint of Heat fans who don't think Tyler is worth much and were about to use the Giddey situation to reinforce that thought. My personal opinion is that Tyler will probably get close to his max if he has a similar or better season as last year.

Saudades.

Oh FFS. We are going to try and sign KD in 2030 too.

I could’ve swore they had an extension in place with Houston already but I guess I just read that somewhere and it was wrong lol

Yep, I wouldn't be surprised either. He seems to be separating himself from that pack of 1 way scoring guards the league is wary of now. Another allstar season, and I'd definitely say he's worth it.

KD's camp is probably using the Heat as leverage to get the extension done with Houston.

The idea of trading for KD for his 37 year old season was already such diminishing returns, knowing you may get one good year, hopefully two, but probably have to pay for three.
It was such a gamble already, but signing him at 38, I just dont believe it.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
Wiggins to Lakers would have to net a 1st round pick. Not sure what protections. I feel like it probably should have none, given in theory Luka is young enough in a big market that the pick could just as easily be in the late 20's and nearly worthless.
I do think trading talent to a franchise with a bonafide superstar and not much else could become the new FA, where if the swing doesn't work out and that player then demands a trade (like what will probably happen to Giannis), having their own picks to return to them is worth so much more.
Though Luka at 29 years old in like 3-4 years probably didnt succeed due to mileage and injuries and maybe wouldn't be a desirable target (though that actually sounds like a thing we would go for).

I wish. Said it before but I'd still take him over KD, we could use shot creation more than KD's buckets and I actually think he'll age better weird as it is to say.
Sadly probably nothing interesting will happen, I think we're going to be in the doldrums until we luck into drafting the next Wade. I wonder if Tyler could net us a 1st round pick without taking on a bad contract.
