I miss that place. And by place, I mean Maxine's. So good.

I've been going there since a kid in the 80s. Even now when I go back to visit family, basically once a year or so, I still have to stop in. Last time was last winter for a funeral. Sat at the front with a bunch of old timers talking local HS basketball. It's my happy place.

We have Bucks and Brewers games here which I love. Otherwise I'd take Madison easily.

What you making if you’re in charge of meat for a Brewer tailgate for 10+ people and have access to one of those tiny ass propane grills.

I'm in Athens, might go see Gianni's basketball court tomorrow and then there's a sports bar nearby for Friday's game. Living the dream.

Some options:

1) Do you have (or have access to) a sous vide?

I do pork loin logs sous vide, then slice into chops and make pork chop sammies.

2) App day:
Kalbi Chuck:
5 pounds chuck roast, cut into 1/4" thick slices (think thick jerky)
5 cloves garlic
1 onion, coarsely chopped
1 Asian pear, cored and cubed
1 cup soy sauce (such as Kikkoman®)
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup sesame oil
black pepper to taste
Directions
Combine garlic, onion, and Asian pear in a blender and puree. Pour into a large bowl and stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, sesame oil, and black pepper. Marinate ribs in the soy mixture, covered, overnight.
Grill until the meat is tender and the outside is crusty, 5 to 10 minutes per side.

Italian sausage sliders:
Bulk italian sausage broken down into mini patty's (for the rolls)
12 or 24 box of Hawaiian rolls
Mozzarella/provolone for topping
Marinara
Slice the rolls in half horizontally with a good bread knife before the tailgate reseal and bring with.
Cook, stack, slice.

Satay Chicken or pork:

3) Pre (beer) boil (don't forget to salt the beer/water) brats and just finish/sear/warm them on the grill

Large group, small grill...beer boiled brats are an easy and delicious choice.

I feel like in context that "Beautiful" should have been "Bewdiful". Or perhaps, whimsically, "Brewdiful".

Will they shrivel up if I boil them in the morning and then put them in the fridge for later that day?

Not at all. They'll be good to go. I put onion in with the beer when I boil them but that's up to you. And then whatever condiments you want. They'll heat up on the grill in a few minutes and you won't have to think about whether they are done or not, they'll already be cooked, you're just heating them up.

Looking for local recommendations on where I can buy a Giannis Hellas top in the Athens area and any tips on the best places to watch the game. I have a small sports bar near where I am staying but wouldn't mind going somewhere where there will be a good local crowd.

Just met a couple from Milwaukee at Gianni's court in Sepolia. I guess good chance I've met the parents of someone on here.

I don't eat pork, but the principle here is key. Make the grilling part as easy as possible.

I was recently asked to grill for about 30 people on a small propane grill at a park. I was supplied the meat - which was a combination of seasoned and marinated chicken thighs/legs and steak skewers. Far from ideal, because small grills = small batches and they often struggle to maintain the same heat. It took me two hours to grill it all. I had to run home and grab a meat thermometer because I wanted to be extra safe with chicken, especially.

So yeah, things which have been cooked beforehand is a good idea. My favorite tailgate thing is to make a bunch of shredded chicken in the slow cooker and bring buns, BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, other condiments, etc. Easy sliders, and you don't even need to grill.

I'd also suggest flattening a bunch of burgers in between parchment paper. It's easy prep - lay a piece parchment paper, place about 2oz of ground beef in between, place parchment paper on top, flatten to size. You can stack all the flattened ones in the fridge, and then just peel and place on the grill, adding salt and pepper. Because they're thin, they'll only take 2-3 minutes to grill on each side and a small grill will work fine.

I don't follow boxing much but the Álvarez/Crawford bout tomorrow night could be interesting. Netflix.

Salvatore’s in Sun Prairie and Molten Monkey in Madison are both excellent. Madison does suck at tavern style thin crust pizza though, and unfortunately that’s my favorite.

I made Chipotle burritos from that recipe. It was solid. But holy crap, 12 hours marinading the chicken with a tablespoon of of the chipotle chili powder made them spicy as hell. I even like spice but my mouth felt on fire. My wife couldn’t even eat it.

I have found chili powder varies massively on spice level by brand and by age.

Some books are putting the Bucks win totals as low as 41.5 and 42.5

That feels really disrespectful to how good Giannis is and how weak the East is without Hali and Tatum the whole season

I also think it’s disrespectful to Turner. He’s really ****ing good. Heck even NBA 2k had him at like 83 or something.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
