Jerry jones has done more for packer fans than cowboy fans

I think you need to wait until we use their draft picks

No. Odds are against the picks being worth it. Most likely they will fall in the high 20s.

Maybe when he said this was like the Herschel Walker trade he meant it from the point of view of the Packers.

AJ brown

Among others. I could actually keep going but the others I would say are “good depth pieces”. But point is, howie turned that trade into an insanely good gold mine.

Smith & Carter we're both top 10 picks though. The Eagles also really benefited from other teams agreeing to do dumb trades (Saints, Titans).

I can kinda understand what the saints were going for in that trade but they had really bad injury luck the following year which helped the eagles. The titans with AJ brown didn’t make sense to me at the time and makes even less sense now.

I didn't like Treylon Burks coming out. So, they just took the wrong player in my mind. Complete waste.

The Saints we're dumb for trading future draft picks based on the state of the roster. That's where Philly really lucked out.

True. Plus it was right after drew brees retired and Sean Payton moved on. Having a new coach I guess they wanted a little extra fire power to build for that first year. lol

So what was the full trade compensation with New Orleans?

The eagles gave up #16 and #19 and received #18 and a 3rd that year and a 1st the next year and I think a 2nd the year after that (2024). I think there was also some later round picks mixed in there as well going both ways but were insignificant.

The saints 1st and 3rd the eagles used immediately to trade for AJ brown and then the saints 1st the following year (and a 4th they also got from the saints) was used to select Jalen Carter. The saints 2nd in 2024 was combined with another pick to trade up for cooper dejean.

Yeah, but what are the chances that either pick turns into a great player like Micah? You're likely not going to get a top 10-15 pick based on how good Green Bay has looked.

Most years, teams only have 15 or so players with 1st Round grades. If you're picking late, usually it's guys like Mazi & Tyler Guyton who are still available. Not blue chip caliber players.

You might only end up with two good starters.

Best case: You use those picks to move up & grab an impact player. But then again, Jerry seems to be the more conservative type lately.

It would be the accumulation of all we saved being >>>> Micah. Not just ONE player. If we draft 2 "good" players and sign a big FA that could be better than ONE elite player.

Also it is 100% possible that the trade was a good one for BOTH sides. For GB Micah could be the one missing piece that takes them over the top, but that is not what he was here in Dallas.

I'd also say that if GB doesn't win a ring with Micah? It will ultimately go down as a failed trade for them as they have mortgaged their future for him.

The Cowboys don't chase free agents. They sign their own guys. But when's the last time they made a big splash in FA?

Those picks have to pan out otherwise it's a mistake.

You're gonna have to hope to moved on from Dak at that point, else 1 good player won't make a difference. (2 players -1 Parsons = 1)

Yeah, according to Mr B everything you do when not winning a SB is a loser move.

Someone needs to tell Jerry to stop paying top dollar. He's inflating the market.

It's his strategy to make the 6th-15th best players at their position the top paid ones.

That's why he had to trade Micah.

Smith is an all pro.
When the cowboys sign players late they are mocked.
When the cowboys sign players early they are mocked.

If they had waited to sign him you would have laughed and said they are costing themselves money by waiting.
You’re really not fair and consistent on these contracts.

Smith has been good but not elite by PFF standards. Why are you making him the highest paid player at his position??

Same issue with Dak. They gave him $5m more than the next highest paid. Why?

You don't want to pay Micah? Who is elite at what he does. But you're willing to pay top dollar for guys who aren't considered elite?

They were willing to make Parsons the highest non QB paid player.
I guess we differ on how good Smith is.

With all respect to PFF…

Watching him week in and out is my perspective. He’s damn sure good enough to warrant this deal.

Sorry, but there's no inconceivable way where a Guard should be paid that much.

Tackle? Sure. But not a Guard.
