For me he checks all the boxes. And it’s not about stats or anything else in 1 game. In the 4th quarter in the clutch showed what he can do when or if his skills develop down the line. Furthermore, he has the look of a guy that has all the intangibles of a dude, and shows enough physical ability on top of those intangibles to develop into a winning NFL quarterback. That’s what I saw. May not happen this year, who knows. It may not happen at all. He should get get there because of the determination imo. And it’s all genuine. Not a fake bone in his body, nor has any teammate ever not been down with this quarterback

We'll see what happens wit him, I don't really care about McCarthy one way or the other, I'm not a Vikings fan so won't really be following him in particular. Not really trying to make any statement about his future, I personally wasn't impressed in this game. Obviously you aren't alone (even in the NFL given they gave him the award).

Yeah, I think the thing here is just noting that the award was given for the impressive comeback, not because JJ had the best offensive game in the NFC in that week. More of a fun narrative thing.

I totally get how if you watched this game you were disappointed in Caleb. I don't get watching this game and thinking "boy that McCarthy kid is a stud". The Bears just collapsed on themselves in that game. McCarthy looked pretty awful most of the game, and the Bears complete ineptitude gave him enough chances to get a win.

Like if the Bears don't go for it on fourth down and kick the FG and then make the other FG they miss, then they win this game. I'd still think Caleb played bad and McCarthy also played bad.

Usually rookie QBs on the road in their first start are atrocious, and that includes HOF QBs. I’m not saying McCarthy is a stud, but what he did was impressive.

One of the underrated weak points of Williams game is the timing of sending people,in motion. He snaps for the ball too late or early and things like it bouncing off the motion happen like it did last night. Or he sends them late and results in a delay of game

And it was noted that his troubles with the cadence is what is causing the false start penalties. His own O Line can't understand what he's doing at the LOS>
