There really wasn't anything to complain about. The game was never close. It was a wire-to-wire victory for Turkey. They kept building and building their lead while we were unable to do anything.

I mean, I watched the Germany-Finland game earlier and I had misgivings about the officiating. I thought that Finland was getting the shot end of the stick and that the result could have been different if the two sides were officiated the same way. But that's also, because, you know, Finland made runs and kept it close. They were within distance through most of it. A different call here, a made shot there and we could be talking about a different game. So, talking about the calls makes sense.

But in this game? It was never close. Turkey started the game off with a 7-0 run and the closest we ever got was within 4 points at 8-12. It was a shellacking.

And, to be clear, Sengun wasn't even the main reason why Turkiye won. Sengun was good (the poor shooting percentage was mainly due to him missing tip-ins) but what propelled them to victory was Osmani hitting absolutely everything (6/8 from 3) and their point of attack defense (Hazer, in particular) neutering our ball-handlers and preventing us from getting the ball to Giannis.

Last Time I have seen a domination like this in a meaningful game was when the Mavs dismantled the Suns in G/ in the Play Offs.

Finland needed to play a perfect game vs. Germany and needed Markkanen to be to top guy on the court. These didn't happen and the end result reflect that.

Considering that Finland will still be playing on the last day of the tournament is an incredible achievement for the country, and should be considered a huge success. The team should be very hungry for the bronze, and hopefully the will come out with an A+ effort and take home the bronze vs. Greece. It is certainly possible. Wonder if Greece cares about the bronze at all, Finland certainly does.

Still going with Turkey. Sengun looks like a different player. Way more athletic and draws double teaming which opens up the whole team. A win is going to put him on the map at a young age for sure.

But GZ to Turkey. They're having a really good tournament.
The good players aged out. Wish we had Diamantidis, Spanoulis, Sloukas and Printezis in their primes playing with prime Giannis. Such is life.

A bronze medal in this tournament is a good result for us. Wish we showed up today but oh well

You just need 3 and D players around Giannis, players like Sloukas,Papanikolau and Mitoglu cant play defence like they cant even move their feet on the defence, also they cant answer the high ball pressure from Turkiye which resulted many turnovers for Greece

The truth is that Giannis is far easier to defend in Fiba than in Nba. No 3 seconds defensively rule is a game changer, smaller court and closer 3-points line doesn't help him either. His shooting is just glaring weakness in Fiba.

one more reason is that referees in FIBA do not allow travelling and offensive fouls.
Antetokounmpo is a great player because of his physical tools but he is not that skilled.

Good defenses stop him and we have seen that in so many FIBA games.

NBA allows him to push defenders for some reason and some times he even goes to the line after pushing defenders. He is not the only one star player who has better treatment than other players in NBA.

This is not only about Giannis.
Jokic is another player who is not a superman in FIBA rules.
Jokic has 3 main assets shooting, strength and he is smart.
But he is slow, and plays with basic moves.
Personally I never accepted that a player like Jokic is considered the best in the world.
He is a obvious a great player like Giannis is too.

But they have holes in their game

The turks look good, they have a very good defense. but germany has too much firepower. If germany does not have a total off day, we should win.

Giannis would also be proportionally easier to defend in the NBA if you gave him his FIBA roster, so have to factor that in too.

If you can't shoot, good team will limit you in Eurobasket every time. Just imagine how Giannis' game would have looked in Nba, if C could camp under the rim.

You’re probably not a competitive team in the NBA if your roster construction focuses on bigs in an era where wings dominate - 3 pt shots are just too efficient and there are plenty of teams who would love to jack up 3s all game against a team that doesn’t have the wings or guards to keep up

All starters in Greece team, except Giannis, can shoot for 3. If a player with near 40% usage is not a Pg and cannot shoot, your team will have big problems eventually.

Better than in vast majority of other teams in Eurobasket. Superstar with 40% usage should make the difference, we have seen how it went yesterday 12 points with - 30 +/-, far the worst in his team. Sure, blame his teammates.
