The aim will be a more positive spin, although whatever the larger crowd ends up chanting at a perceived villain takes on a life of its own.

Here's an idea Grey, when Clippers visit SA,the whole section can hold little bonzai trees-or little plants in general (and of course plant them after the game...)

You said villain,so...

I'd love for this section to grow into a nightmare opponents hate to play against.

I suspect some form of tree taunting will follow Clips throughout the arenas this season.

Not likely to match Europe. A key problem is cost of the games which excludes hard core fans.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

The issue is ticket prices and sponsors. The true blue collar crazies are priced out, and the sponsors don't want such a rowdy atmosphere that they fear could potentially tip into violence and negatively impact them as the official drink of the NBA or whatever.

I'd love it if NBA teams actually sacrificed a bit of their revenue for a close to the court, standing room only, low priced ticket section. [General Admission??]. I think teams would hear the difference immediately.

Atmosphere is much more electric in MSG. That's what he wants.

yup for real. the Warriors SF move to a fancy arena changed their fanbase from a bunch of east bay crazies to sf / silicon valley techies. it's just too expensive for regular people and the well off don't do crazy cheering.

Spurs are in SA though so maybe they have a chance.

In some of those "great atmosphere" videos guys are chanting slurs or things like"kill Croat so Albanian dont have brother" or " "if you dont jump you are Shiptar" which is slur for Albanian. I doubt that black youtubers or black players who praise these videos would love to have same atmpsphere where whole stand yell n word or say kil blacks and latinos.

Also most of those fans dont care about game, there are planty examples where team is losing and would need support from the stands but fans chant about Kosovo or some other political issue.
Those who said that these are football fans going to the basketball are right, they dont care about basketball, they are there to support their club and show power of their group, there were even some comical scenes related to this where fans like these were chanting "score goal" while on basketball game ,singing songs about football rivals that dont have basketball section on basketball game or singing about football derby next week while being on basketball game.

It's not even comparable.

Do you realize there's National championship too? so there's another 19 games.

It's fine, it'll make him want to be part of the frenzy night in night out. And he knows what kind of attention he would get in NYC, it would be madness.

Yep, College Football games/fans provide very similar atmosphere like the video above.

Which means 15-17 games with clearly inferior teams

In the US, going to sport events is a family/date thing, in europe arenas are always filled with die hard fans that live and breathe their club for life.
As a european that lived and went to games in the US and Serbia, I prefer the US way. You pay you go in watch and leave as opposed to screaming all game and possibly fighting with the other teams fans during or after the game

Atlanta Hawks have had a '6th man section' now called the 404 Crew that's been around for a very long time (during the Joe Johnson era): located in a section behind the away teams bench just off to the right, they get free season tickets, they hold auditions, they are supposed to stand and cheer all game, come up with silly non-offensive chants. This one was memorable, lol.

You know, I've been to NYC several times. So has Wemby. Amazing city to visit. But there's a reason why so many stars choose to continue to call SA home long after their illustrious SA careers are done.

Remember, too, where Wemby is from. He's a cultured guy used to Euro fandom. And has long been a Spurs fan. And has stated he wants to be be a Spur his whole NBA career.

I get the angst these must create in other fanbases. Ours sleeps well again :D
