Forcing Luka to LAL then rewarding Mavs with Flagg should honestly get him locked up.

Rigged league.

It *might* if that’s what happened.

Unless you think the other 28-29 owners are all in on it as well.

Well... the NBA is a business that they all participate in, so moving a premier player to one of the top two TV markets helps all of the other teams to prosper from TV deals, future streaming revenue, and more specifically it can and has increased the value of each franchise. The number one thing these billionaire owners want from their investments is for them to make them the maximum amount of money. Luka to LA (at the fractional opportunity cost for the 13 lottery teams that lost out on him - theoretically) pales in comparison to the extra money this can generate for the league, overall.

So yeah, of course Luka to LA (for?) Flagg will never be investigated. It would tarnish the league's reputation and cost every owner money in lowered future profits and reduced team values.

Agree, yet I can't wait for the next season to begin. Just so I can start bitching about refs appearing to rig game outcomes LOL.

But I love the game, so I can't stay away from it.

Until I am given the ‘more to come’ of this. The additional Balmer investment doesn’t add up to much because Aspiration was able to raise additional money from other investors and Balmer gave in 10 million not 2 million like Wong did. Why would Balmer trust a failing company to pay Kawhi with his investment for a year in advance. They already had failed to keep it afloat long enough to pay him on his first 50 million.

I really hope that there is more, because if it gets bad enough, I see Balmer taking a ‘plea deal’ with the nba to speed up the process rather than be a distraction for the league through the season and keep the all-star game with the Clippers. At least that is my hope, because this is an entertaining story for the offseason but in the end I want to just watch and talk about basketball

The timeline as I understand is the $10 million Ballmer threw in was before the Clippers partnership ended. The confidence in Ballmer throwing in another 10 million could be because the $2 million from Dennis Wong was received from Kawhi. Also keep in mind, Ballmer was trying to keep his equity stake in Aspiration below 5% to avoid the reporting requirements which seems to be a point a lot of pundits asking why didn't Ballmer just buy the whole thing, pay everyone off and dissolve the company. As the financials worsen, the equity stake 10 million can buy would skyrocket.

A lot of people are overlooking the valuation at the time Dennis Wong's investment was made. 2 billion valuation for a cash starve company that had no clients, little assets is insane.

Cherniy's an idiot for hashing this all out on social media. He needs to keep quiet. Pablo's got all the receipts.

"I am personally contributing stock to Kawhi to make this partnership possible,” Sanberg wrote members of his leadership team in a May 2022 email obtained by The Athletic. “Aspiration’s CEO judged the deal to be not worth doing. For avoidance of

A couple of curiosities. By April 5, the contract for the $28M was fully signed off by Cherny. But just a month later, Sanberg claims that he had to chip in $20M in stock and that Cherny thought it wasn't worth it?

Secondly - there is no way Kawhi didn't ask the Clippers for extra money in 2019. It's even more unlikely he would've waited 3 years for the payday, given that his deal was only guaranteed for the 3 years and not the max allowable 4 years. So, what did they pay Kawhi from 2019 to 2021? And if it worked then, why did they change up the payment scheme to involve Aspiration?

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Seems pretty definitive to me.
