Finland one shot away from medal. Eventually they fell short but what a tournament, big respect!

They will have a good change to medal in next Euro's. It will be pretty much same team as now. Only that time players would be in their prime, with the exception of Markkanen who would be 32. But every other key player would be under 30. Sure 4 years is a long time, so anything can happen. Hopefully Finland would also have M&M superduo playing in NBA at that time.

Amazing tournament for Finland. They deserve admiration for getting this far, getting past Serbia, finishing ahead of established basketball countries like France and Spain, and for keeping this 3rd place game close too.

As for Greece, it was painful to watch their inability to dribble the ball. But such is the fate of Euro perimeter players. That said, despite some flaws, they played a great Eurobasket tournament. They stuck to their style of play and were calm and collected at the free throw line when it mattered most. Respect!
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Giannis took a roster of:

A starting shooting guard who's a 3rd stringer on his club(Dorsey)

A starting small forward who's actually a power forward on his club and he's 35 years old past his prime(Papanikolaou). His backup is Thanassis Antetokounmpo who hasn't played basketball for 1,5 year and who's a 15th player on the roster of his club and a guy(Kalaitzakis) who's a 3rd stringer on his club.

A starting center who's actually a power forward on his club and he can't be regarded as an elite player by any means (Mitoglou) and whose backup is Kostas Antetokounmpo who is nothing more than a 3rd stringer throughout his career.

A point guard who's 35 years old past his prime who's the only player that seem to belong(Sloukas). His backup is a shooting guard(Toliopoulos) who will be a 3rd stringer on his club and he played as point guard because the team doesn't have any other point guard.

...to a bronze medal.
That's Dirk Nowitzki all over again. Just like Dirk was playing with mediocre rosters at best around him, so does Giannis.

And he still made it. Words are not enough for this carry job.

Thank you Giannis. We don't deserve you that is certain.

Sasu Salin will be old man, and he was still very important to them. But it will interesting to see this Muurinen kid, he looks unbelievable. If FIBA does top 10 plays of the tournament montage, they will probably cheat and put all top Muurinen plays numbers, because otherwise he will have like 6 out of 10 plays...

My understanding is that Salin is now officially retired from the Finnish national team, so other guys need to step up to take his place in the future.

So who you all cheering for in the final? I will be rooting for Turks, I usually dislike turkish sports teams and stuff, not sure why, but as I said I am Ataman and Sengun stan, will be rooting for him.

P.S. Turkoglu is not a good looking man, damn. 15 years ago TBJ had a running bit that Tas Melas looks exactly like Hedo, and he kind off did, but if you compare Tas to Hedo now, holy crap is Hedo not in Tas' league at all lol :D

I am not sure if its fair that country that absolutely don't care for Basketball, are one game away from not only being World champions, but Euro champions as well. But props, somehow there are good players from there still.

At least the football national team won't fire their coach today in the same moment we win... if we win.

Realistically he should have two plays, not 6. The top 10 will probably include 1. Murinen One hand cock back, 2. his reverse lob too, 3. da Silva buzzer beater, 4. Giannis dunk between the dotted line and free throw, 5. Sengun behind the back pass to Cedi, 6. Jokic full court pass, 7. Obst one legged shot clock three, 8. That Portuguese center had some nasty dunks so one worthy of making it too, 9. Turkish guard dunking on Porzingis.

That leaves one spot for another Murinen play, the Wagner spin move dunk, Giannis dunk against Turkey, a Kostas block, Sengun flick pass to Bona, Lecomte game winner.

No way can you justify putting Murinen in there 6 times without extreme bias.

In contrary, our Football team had probably best game in years, 2-3 loss to Netherlands, I mean still L and 0 points, but 2-3 against Dutch is pretty impressive for us, we are one of the worst NTs in the world now probably, but whole country was focused on Basketball, I am not sure many noticed that Football team played.

I think some Muurinan dunks were way more impressive than plays you mentioned, but it is subjective.

As a Slovenian, can we take some of those players and put them on our team? Just give us one athletic dude that can remotely move up and down the floor...... Yes, it's that bad :D

Welp, this doesn't look good. Turkey allready hitting everything and we got no real answer for Sengun. Gotta make our open shots to have a chance here.
