Congrats to Germany on winning again. That's a really tough team. So in the end Finland lost twice to to-be European champions, and only other losses in the tournemant were against Lithuania and Greece, games they could have won if a play or two would have gone their way. They were that good this year.
For the next Eurobasket France needs come with their A-team, no more excuses. They have the talent to rule European basketball, they just need everybody to suit up.

Congratulations to Germany, they had the best team.
Turkey a very very good team too.
Congratulations to our Greek team too.
After so many years we were in the medals.
Giannis is in the best phase of his career with better shooting and more skilled.
Spanoulis is an upcoming coach with success in every team he coached until now.

He definitely could be, lots of good players are not in the NBA, just need to find right ones and put them in right situation.

Ataman "I ran my mouth so much, that now I have nothing to say"
Without the spin: "I think that in all these three weeks in Riga, in this EuroBasket I talked too much in press conferences," Ataman said. "Now, there’s no words, nothing to say, because we are very upset to lose the game that we got to control, it was in our hands. Now the tournament is over, congratulations to Germany for their title."

Bonga ain't first nor last player, who is among top 300-400 best, who isn't in nba.
In NBA always near 1/3rd of a league has no desire to compete and keep pile of garbage of players on purpose, mostly young players that suck without any hope they will get better. But NBA is excellent at selling BS of bright future, even in cases that future is as bright as grave pit. Fans eat that crap in hope for lottery luck. Often it's just recycling process of sucking for youth, to add on already existing youth, that gets lost in shuffle because there is too many young players trying to learn basics of basketball and develop as humans, while being paid millions for things they aren't capable of doing. That is pretty much main reason why so many rebuilds go nowhere.
For example, look at Hornets roster. Season didn't even started and you know they will suck. They have no center on roster. Their PF rotation is paper thin, and Lamelo will have his annual 50 games missed.
Than you have teams like Nets ( 2-3 guys that can help team win games, rest of roster G league or 19 -20 years old kids with no experience ), that is sub 25 wins team for sure.
Wizards will give their best to not lose pick, so that's another sore loser locked.
Jazz roster makes no sense. They were historically awful last year. Quick look at their PG "rotation" gives you all the data. Sub 25 wins team.
Kings, Raptors, Suns, Bucks are just poorly constructed rosters with low floor and ceiling.
Pelicans, Pacers, 76ers, Celtics are too injury prone to do anything meaningful this year.
And this is case every year in nba, you always start season with almost 50% of teams stuck in no men's land for one reason or another. For this reason, so many teams don't even try to maximize their talent, and guys like Bonga are being left out for guys like Bagley, because Bagley is excellent at one thing. Sucking life out of his team while giving casual fans impression he is doing something good. True tank commander.

If we looked at top 100 players in the world, I think all of them play in the NBA, after that we get non NBA players in the mix and it gets more and more frequent. NBA bottom of the rosters are full of players who are not very good even by Euro standards, some of them are young guys, some of them are there just cause they available and cheap.
I think most people realize that, but sometimes we still have takes on how NBA player is above any other player. LIke the year Thanasis was the only Greek player from the NBA, and when Greeks lost, we still had those comments, how - Greek NBA player didn't show up, why they lost. And maybe some of it was ironic, but I mean, thats Thanasis dude... Yes he is in the NBA, but he is like 9th. man on that Greek team at best, it does not mean he is good just cause he has NBA contract, He is blatant example of guy who is in the NBA for non basketball reasons, but even then, I do not think Thanasis is worst NBA player or anything. If you watch Ukraine play in FIBA, their main center is really bad even at FIBA, and he is 10 year NBA vet Aleksander Len. But he made NBA as high pick when he was 19 and these guys just still no matter how sucky they are sometimes, it does not mean much, put guys like Len or Thanasis on any Euoleague team, they would barely play.

I fear the same but I still have hope for Euro 2029. We will add Biberovic to this team and also Ömer Kutluay.
The only question mark is if we can replace Larkin with an equivalent american PG. Its not great, but the rules allow it so I assume we will try to naturalize another PG after Larkin becomes too old.
This team with Sengün in his prime, Biberovic and Kutluay can only be better.
Since Biberovic is neutralized it is not possible to add another one.
There is hope that Biberovic will get his normal turkish citizenship since he lives in Turkey since age 16 and then wouldnt count as naturalized.
If that doesnt work then yes, we will probably never see him since we need a PG more
It would still count as naturalized since he didn`t have his citizenship at his 16th birhday.
As a german i can`t really process what happened since the summer of 2022. It feels 100% unreal to have a golden generation like Spain in their prime. And this year we did it while missing crucial talent like NBA players Moritz Wagner, Isaiah Hartenstein, Ariel Hukporti, Maxi Kleber and other top tier players like Nick Weiler-Babb (Efes) and David Kramer (Real Madrid). We could have nominated another Top Roster with all those guys.

Very true, they pissed the game away.

Christian Anderson comes to mind, currently playing for Texas Tech. If he'll reach half of Dennis' level (esp. in FIBA) remains to be seen but he is quite talented.
Mathieu Grujcic will be playing for Ohio State next year, had a brief debut for FC Barcelona this year in April.
Ivan Kharchenkov played Euroleague for Bayern Munich last season, will play for Arizona next year.

This.
Germany had effectively about half of its top players playing... but it just goes to show what putting the team first creates

True. Also keep in mind that Bonga played point guard as a youth player in Germany and subsequently came into the NBA as a point guard prospect.
Now, he has molded his game into a 3&D type of player. His defensive impact is excellent and his shot looks more consistent.
There might be an opportunity for him next year.

The jury is still our on whether any of them can replace Dennis. In any case, they will guarantee at least solid guard play. Meaning we'll be able to get the ball across half court.
Jack Kayil is also only 19 and was in Belgrade last season. Will be playing for Berlin this year. Not sure what his ceiling is.
