Didn’t know Clarkson shot very efficient on catch and shoot attempts. If we are gonna stagger KAT or Brunson with the bench then Clarkson should get plenty of open looks.

i think they want clarkson next to brunson more often than people are assuming. the whole thing last year was that we need a guard/wing that can create to take brunson off ball more often. josh hart doing that role was not it

Yep and something else that hasn’t been mentioned by anyone is that he’s going to be the best scorer we’ve had off the bench in the playoffs. Last 3 post seasons he’s averaged 17.2 PPG on 47/36/95. That’s much more production than what JR smith and IQ ever gave us in the playoffs.

Clarkson saying we were his #1 choice and Brunson actually was recruiting him.
Clarkson said he was at the Wimbledon tennis tournament when his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, called to ask where he wanted to go. Clarkson picked New York, and Paul contacted the team to see if there was mutual interest.

“It all happened in two minutes,” Clarkson said. “Then I was a Knick.”

Heading into his 12th NBA season, Clarkson is joining an organization that gives him his best shot at winning a title. The Knicks are coming off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals and are considered by many to be the favorites in the East this season.

Clarkson said the passion of New York fans also played a major role in his decision.

“The arena (Madison Square Garden), honestly,” he said. “Feeling the energy from the fans. Knowing they’re going to let you have it if you’re playing like s–t. But when you’re playing great, it’s all love. At the end of the day, I just want to feel the energy. Get to play with y’all (Brunson and Hart).”

Brunson indicated that he and Clarkson have discussed teaming up in the past, telling the crowd at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park, “I’m not going to say when, but me and Jordan talked about this a while ago.”

Does Clarkson still fit? I feel like we might be more balanced without him.

G: Jalen Brunson / Malcolm Brogdon
G: Miles McBride / Garrison Matthews / Landry Shamet
F: Mikal Bridges / Josh Hart / Pacome Dadiet
F: OG Anunoby / Guerschon Yabusele
C: Karl-Anthony Towns / Mitchell Robinson / Ariel Hukporti

Tyler Kolek gets traded for cap space

We have four main scoring options in Jalen, Mikal, OG, and KAT. All 4 of them would be at their best having guys who COMPLIMENT them. When Jalen or KAT go to the bench, that's the opportunity for guys like Mikal and especially OG to get their buckets.

Mikal and ESPECIALLY OG need guys surrounding them who either cut to the hoop, spot-up for three, or are looking to pass them the ball. I don't see where Clarkson fits here because he mostly scores off the dribble right?

Mikal and OG are gonna give you everything on the defensive end, but in order for them to do that, you gotta keep them happy with their touches. Neither of them are gonna want to dip below 18 ppg and both of them proved they can score 20+ ppg on high efficiency when you get them the ball.

Clarkson was the 3rd option in Utah for the entirety of his time there. I just don't know how he is gonna adjust to a major role change. All the other guys we got are suited for complimentary roles, ESPECIALLY Brogdon.

Also, everyone is sleeping on Garrison Matthews. He has lit it up on every squad he has played on. Just hasn't been on a legit winning squad. He might be better than Shamet, or might actually be able to play alongside Shamet.

its a fair question to ask. But i think we still have nobody on the bench that gets buckets reliably, if you get rid of him. Obviously you could always have KAT or Brunson on the court, if they get staggered properly. But still, i think i easily want clarkson over shamet, dadiet, mathews or even deuce. Yea sure they all might be playing better defense. but we also need some people to get points, which we have seen last year from the bench. none of the guys provide that. And i also dont have very high hopes for brogdon. If hed still be nice, he wouldnt have to sign a non guranteed training camp deal. He might not even contribute that much besides dribbling up the floor somewhat safely. His body just doesnt hold up.

the 10 guys ill bank on:

brunson/Deuce
mikal/clarkson
og/Josh
yabusele/Huk
KAT/Mitch

adjusting the minutes and lineups is on the coach and we will see how they fit and play together, obviously we should play around with KAT and Mitch lineups, OG or Josh at the 4 sometimes, starting deuce next to brunson, etc. and then other people will get spot minutes depending on the game and day. Our next season solely depends on health and how well we can hide KAT and Brunson, because these are the guys that will get hunted all season. i think we have to accept the fact that we are not gonna be an amazing defenese with KAT and Brunson on the floor at the same time. We need guys that help us gather the storms we sometimes fall to. especially vs indy and boston last playoffs. We need someone like clarkson for that.

If brogdon is in perfect condition and has an amazing preseason im down to adjust my opinion, but as long as i dont see brogdon, matthews, shamet or dadiet contributing, i dont want them to play serious minutes. we are too stacked for that, yabu and clarkson are proven NBA players. Though i can see why people dont like clarkson. He has the stigma, that hes an ego gunner. Which i dont belive is true. But thats how people percieve him i believe.
im bout dat action boss
