Clearly you haven’t watched Giannis in years, he’s improved literally every season of his career.
The league hates Milwaukee and will give any reason to not talk about them, real Jokic fans from Denver should understand this type of market bias. If you’re not LA or NYC or LeBron/Curry they don’t talk about you. The only time they talk about you is when the media can fantasize about them being traded to their favored markets. If Giannis had gotten traded to LA instead of Luka the media would be talking about him as “the face of the league” and MVP
Euro fans don’t particularly like or claim Giannis(wonder why) and the analytic nerds see everything as a competition with Jokic. Then there are the weirdos who hate any dominate athletic player as an affront to “skill”
Bucks need to be better but Giannis ain’t the problem by a long shot
His FT% is pathetic and very damaging to his impact.
So I he shot league average he would be 32.4 instead of 30.9 PPG. his FT% since isn't a bad possession consider it is still 1.18 points per possession and gets the other team into foul trouble/bonus. He also went 19/20 from the line in a close close-out finals game. but yeah I guess if a top 3 player got better he would be more impactful? he's a top 3 player as is.
For 90% of the league a free throw is a great possession though that boosts your overall O-Rating. For Giannis, it just kind of treads water.
119 O-Rating just is not elite these days.
In terms of league-wide consideration, it seems to me that there is a clear cut top 2 that is separate from the pack. Then you have a herd of players pretty close from 3-8ish.
