I read the first chapter, it was pretty good. It felt more like early JJK. There's two cameos from certain members of the original cast. It takes place 60 years or so after the end of the Shinjinku Showdown.

But yeah, I feel like this new story is inspired by the end of Naruto.

This film is an instant classic. Go see it in a theater and avoid all spoilers. The 3rd Act will have you on the edge of your seat and possibly shedding tears by the time the credits roll.

No post credit scene.

Heard it was 2.5 hours? Was it like the last movie where half of it was just the previous season

Nope. The first 2 minutes are a recap of the end of the final season of the TV anime

For the next two hours its the first Act of the Infinity Castle Arc from the manga.

This is one of the best films that I've ever watched in a theater. The 3rd Act is horrifying and profound

Loved it. Definitely worth it. The animation quality is really noticeable from the first scene and the music/soundtrack are on point. Can't lie, sometimes it was super overwhelming...they did not spare any expense on the quality. The combat and fighting definitely has you on the edge of your seat. Feel like some of the best parts are when they actually show the Infinity Castle. They do a great job of establishing the setting and giving everyone a sense of dread.

Story-wise, it was okay. I think Demon Slayer relies a lot on exposition and info dump during the battles. One thing I do appreciate is that the villains aren't always painted as black and white. The last fight...man, they do a good job of setting up the fighting, and I felt like the backstory and fighting worked well together. However, to be fair, they do have a huge cast, so maybe allowing people to have that spotlight for a bit is better than the alternative.

And yea, Demon Slayer always does a great job of pumping people up for the next arc. I'm ready to watch the next movie. Loved it. I heard that the next movie might not come out until 2027, maybe 2028. That is crazy...

Glad you liked it.

And yeah Demon Slayer is a simple story which relies a bit too much on info dumps during battle, but the character backstories always hit hard emotionally.

For this film, the primary antagonist really shines. When we first meet him in the previous film, we think of him as the monster who killed Rengoku.

By the end of the film...he is still a monster...but he's also

Spoiler:
Very human. And there's no indication that he even wanted to become a Demon.

I don't blame him for what he did before he met Muzan. It was horrific. But I understand. Those dudes took literally everything from him.

The end of the 3rd Act was gut wrenching.

Re: the animation.

Nevermind how incredible the hand drawn animation was. The Infinity Castle itself was breathtaking.

I can't imagine how many hours of work went into creating such a complex, moving structure like that.

I'll be honest, if this isn't nominated for an Oscar in the animation category, I don't know what the Academy is smoking. This is a visual masterpiece.

Hmm so I’ve been watching Peacemaker - it’s hilarious. John Cena is great. Can’t lie, I didn’t like him as much when he was coming up as a wrestler but I think he’s a good dude.

Anyone gonna watch Chainsaw man in theaters? And One Punch coming back? And sheeeit maybe I need to watch Dandadan.

I’m a bit to say, my pc can’t handle ffvii lol. I really might need to try baldur’s gate 3 and Spider-Man 2

I gotta get this off my chest

I hate amnesia plots when they're not the sole focus of the narrative. They're cheap drama devices that do nothing but keep the narrative spinning its wheels to delay things for no reason

Which is why this latest chapter of Dandadan really pissed me off. Cause now it's just drawing things out, I thought it was above such cliches

I'll give it a pass if next chapter or 2 she sees Okarun and he introduces himself as Ken Takakura and that causes the memories to flood back, but even with that, it's just a pointless diversion. Taking anything more than like 5 chapters is gonna really drop my enjoyment of the series.

I'm 90 minutes into the 3hr epic Batman v Superman extended edition!
The tone and mood is exactly the same as The Dark Knight, except there is no Heath Ledger...
But Batman vs Superman is visually the best superhero film ever made, and i've been blown away by the Congress scene (that's where i'm up to!!).

I don’t know, for me DanDaDan as a anime loves to dive into a cliche topic and then switch up expectations until it ends up stylistically being something new. The writer deserves an opportunity to make it interesting.

lol.

This thread always turns into an anime thread with dot and shams other plit personality going back and forth.

Anyways... I had to break off from reading fantsey/sci-fi and read some real literature after Sanderson's latest book in the stormlight archives. It honestly read like ya and that sht bugs tf outta me. So I checked in with one of my old college friends to see if she had any recs which she she did... the secret history.

It felt refreshing to read quality writing. The story is a recollection from the pov of a unreliable narrator about his time at a prestigious yuppy NE college. They do drugs, study Greek and kill a friend. Basic themes are blurred lines of morality, need for connection, and a lil bit of unrequited love though thats minor. I dont feel like im selling this very well. Its an entertaining an read.

After this latest One Piece chapter, I guess I have to take back some of my Garp slander cause
Spoiler:
he sided with Rocks and Roger upon seeing Imu

Is what I would say if I were a World Government plant. AMAE, the fact he knows more and chooses to fight to keep the status quo makes him worse imo, Dragon remains the one good Marine, dude took one look at the Celestial Dragons and said f*ck this, I'm starting a revolution.
