I disagree. Franz is criminally underrated by this board. He's already wildly impactful on both ends of the floor.

I think the Magic could win a championship with Franz playing like the elite two-way player than he already is.

Banchero is the one who has to level up.

Let me add Homerism: if F-Wagner gets to a 40% three-ball, he would be a first-team NBA caliber guy and arguably the best SF in the league.

He is very, very close to being an NBA superstar. But: with a 33% three-ball, he will "only" be a marginal all-star. I'm ok with that floor.

I predict Franz will eventually become a tolerable 3 point shooter. But it won’t be this season.

Which I believe he will. I think he will hit that 3 a little better, and with an offensive coach getting movement from everyone, we could be a nightmare for the league.

Not only are we BIG, we’re fast, and with the way we already run into transition some, it won’t be too difficult to get these younger players to run opposing teams off the floor.

I’m more excited for this season than Imwas for 2008-2009, and I still have the ECF cap!

Paolo absolutely needs to level up too but you’re lying to yourself if you can’t admit that Franz with a legit 3pt shot elevates this team immediately to a legit contender because of how good he is already… which is what I want out of a max player.

Franz with a more consistent 3PT shot would be a top 10 player in the NBA. So to that point, ok sure.

But I'd argue he's a top 25 player and fully worth his max contract right now even *without* a consistent 3PT shot.

And that's more than good enough for ostensibly the second best player on the team (he's the best player, but that's another debate).

Literally in this very thread we have people openly suggesting he's not worth his max contract.

I feel like it depends on the poster one is speaking to, we can’t generalize. There is a large number of people who think Franz is the best player.

Are they the same people who don’t think any of our players deserve a contract?

Franz is a 3-ball away from being a generational player. I don't have any doubts of that statement. Without that 3-ball he is plenty fine for a max contract.

Paolo. Man, the advanced stats don't like him. He just seems to have an "it" factor similar to Franz. In that sense they are almost the perfect pairing.

Paolo is the real deal and so many sleep on him.

We are so fortunate to have P5 and Franz.

Assuming 70 games played per season (210 total games), this is a 19.0/4.3/6.2 AVERAGE. :o
Even if all 246 games are played over three years, the bare min to hit this is 16.2/3.7/5.3.

What one takes from this is that not a lot of young players are stat-good in their rookie year (bunch of players), were not healthy enough to log games needed (Cunningham, Morant and LaMelo Ball), or are on a team that doesn't suck the player's rookie year (Reaves and Barnes).

If healthy, Cooper Flagg is the sort of stat guy that could challenge here. But he might fail given the "team doesn't suck rookie year" category.

p.s. F-Wagner was 4103/783/1066 over his first three years. He missed 13 games; had he not, his averages would have been super close to these 4000/900/1300 targets!

Penda could be our James Johnson this year. I don't think he picks fights or anything, but he just naturally roughs people up.

Availability is an underrated skill, imo. And that’s what makes them special.

I feel Wagner can be a perennial all star, got to figure out that 3 ball and he has to tap into that alpha mentality a bit more.... He's proven he has it in him, but sometimes he's too quick to defer to others....

I’m very curious to see Moe’s status come training camp. Word was he is physically ready but might need extra time to be mentally prepared to play. The sooner he’s back the better, assuming he’s healthy of course, so we can get home court this year.

Quite a few things need to happen for us this year but importantly I’d like to see Franz hit 36% this year if we are going to make the finals. There are other ways to make that up but it would be hugely important.

I’m aiming for the actual finals this year but would be over the moon if we made the ECF.
