For now I wouldn’t trade him for two 2nds. By mid season to after the allstar break my mind could be changed. But guards can take a while. I still think I’d like to see what he can do all the way to mid next season. And if he hasn’t improved just let him expire or trade him at that point. He at minimum can become our sixth man while we are developing. If he leads to loses oh well, if he improves that’s a good thing.

For now I wouldn’t trade him for two 2nds. By mid season to after the allstar break my mind could be changed. But guards can take a while. I still think I’d like to see what he can do all the way to mid next season. And if he hasn’t improved just let him expire or trade him at that point. He at minimum can become our sixth man while we are developing. If he leads to loses oh well, if he improves that’s a good thing.

I think Hadaneffect is right on with Keyonte's value. Sexton was traded for nothing. George is not nearly as good. That being said, you just hold and see if he improves this year.

I think that the odds of a trade for Lauri are incredibly low so this is likely an exercise in futility, but I don't think any team is trading a top-4 pick (and a shot at Ament, Boozer, Dybantsa, or Peterson) for anyone other than a small handful of players. Beyond that it's a crapshoot and I doubt the Jazz would move him for a top-4 protected pick in 2026 without additional incentive.

Okay. If you're asking what ONE 2026 pick—without any additional consideration—is he worth in a deal that both the Jazz and their trading partner would agree upon... then maybe 5? Even then I don't think that the Jazz make that deal in the end.

I think Lauri is a very important piece for the future of this team. At some point the team has to keep players otherwise it's a futile squirrel cage wheel of young inexperienced players who don't get significantly better because there isn't the leadership needed to do so. Lauri has stated he likes it in Utah, he is a valuable leader who makes a difference and while he may not be the bonified #1 superstar teams need, his value is very high on a quality team, which at some point is the reason for the tear down and rebuild.

Many f us were frustrated with the rotation of early playoff exits with the Mitchell, Gobert team, I would take that any day over the last few years of pointless losing, pun intended. I don't think the Jazz brass are looking to move on from Lauri, like they were with many of the previous players and when the decided to really tank, he is the one player they have had that I would think is worth keeping for the next level. It may seem as if he isn't worth a top 4 pick in a trade, but he will be better than what ever picks that is so why keep floundering at the bottom?

Either way at this point I’m not certain keeping Lauri helps you have a winning team faster. I know that sounds crazy but having a cost controlled good player + the money you can spend on another good player might be more valuable than Lauri.

That works in theory, but since the Jazz are not a free agent destination, which player can the Jazz spend money on who is better than Markkanen? I'd say the main issue might be that both Markkanen and Bailey have a somewhat similar style of play with them getting their points from a lot of off the ball action.

I think it is time to pull the trigger on trading Lauri. We might have a central piece of the future now, we really need one more of those pieces so it makes sense to bottom out and add assets for when we are clearly on the ascent. This should be a development year, and our last season of all out tanking if we get a high pick. The Detroit trade makes the most sense:

Harris, filler, 2026 DET 1st, 2028 DET 1st, 2030 DET 1st
for
Lauri

Hopefully find a third team that sends value for Harris. Those picks won't be high, but we will be in a great position moving forward.

I fall into the keep Lauri corner. I believe he is our Pearce from the Boston championship, you have to keep some talent for when the team improves. This year should be top three tank job, next year should be playoffs here we come.
