So is it just a win now and one of Cleveland and Boston lose?

This team is so unclutch that they're choking before the playoffs even begin. There is a 0% chance they win a playoff game this year. The winless streak will continue.

I think if we can win the division, the rest we get before the divisional round will help.

I'm thinking there is a decent amount of unhappy fans of "playoff" teams right now.
Certainly Detroit. Boston is stumbling along for the most part. We had a nice 7-1 stretch, and are now sputtering. Yanks have just been OK for the most part, Houston lost Alvarez.

Other then Cleveland and Seattle there are a lot of disappointed teams / fans right now.

I'll rely on that website that Parataxis posted at the beginning of the thread, and see what it says, but I'm thinking you are correct.

I was thinking if Detroit loses tomorrow might also do it. But it appears there is a scenario if Detroit loses tomorrow, that all 3 teams end up exactly with 90 wins.

I had to look up baseball-reference to verify the date (September 5, 1992).

But when I was younger I vividly remember going to a Montreal Expos game. where the Expos brought in a reliever called Doug Simons into the game and laughing at his ERA of 216.00 that was on the scoreboard.

He had pitched 3 games in April, got one batter out, and given up 8 earned runs.

Right now I'm thinking the #13 pitching spot in the playoffs will come down to Berrios, Scherzer, Fluharty, or perhaps even Ryan Borucki who accepted the demotion.

If we get the bye, my guess is that it goes to Fluharty, especially if its a lefty heavy lineup. With all the days off in a series and a 9 men pen, you don't need length in that 3 of 5 series.

If we don't get the bye, I could see Berrios or Scherzer, since we might want length since we play 3 games in 3 days.

But overall think Fluharty has the inside track on a spot.

Berrios to the pen.

It makes sense. We need a long man, and the 6 man rotation isn't really needed anymore after this week.

If our situation is fully known before Sunday, we can call up some chump... or use one of our starters since they might not pitch for a number of days after that,

If they win the division, there’s a very good chance they’ll play NYY in the ALDS and you can guarantee Fluharty will be on the team in that scenario.

How about 4 lefties against the Yankees — Borucki over Varland.

Scherzer aside, what's even more concerning is that we are not scoring any runs. I think that Bo injury is a huge blow and it's unfortunate. Missing out on arguably your best hitter will definitely hurt your lineup. If he doesn't come back healthy we are not going far in the playoffs.

Bo is one of the best hitters in baseball. It's a massive loss down the stretch but the strength of this club is suppose to be the depth. They should have a big enough lead and enough talent to be able to clinch. No question we need Bo back to have any hope in the playoffs tho

The real story is, Don't mess with Apple TV games.

Also, what is our record when Springer leads off the game with a homerun?
