What is you guys opinion on Yoho?
He may be the most over-rated brewers prospect of all time by casual fans?

I think it would be more the die hards if anything. But agree, so far it’s been a bit disappointing BUT also not going to write him off after the very limited innings he has pitched. I actually think if you take away that rough outing vs the White Sox that his numbers wouldn’t be that bad. I’m hopeful next year he is a solid option for the role that like Grant Anderson or Mears has had this year.

Tyler Black has been a bit more of a disappointment for me. He was pretty hyped and thought he would be raking from day 1. However he can’t stay up here and would not be shocked if he is packaged in some kind of deal this offseason while he still has some prospect status. But I’m guessing his value has decreased quite a bit in the last year.

The thing that was disappointing with me for Black is they never really gave him an opportunity. Perhaps he's just that awful in the field that they couldn't justify him in the lineup, but my god the amount of outs we just handed to the opposition with each Siegler AB was maddening.

I’m starting to have my doubts he returns this season. I believe as of yesterday there was still elbow discomfort.

10 games left and he doesn't appear close to being ready. Assuming a bye our first playoff game is in 17 days.

What are we thinking for playoff roster projection….?

Locks:
9 - Contreras, Vaughn, Turang, Ortiz, Durbin, Chourio, Perkins, Frelick, Yelich

3 - Jansen, Monasterio, Collins

3 (SP) - Peralta, Woodruff, Priester
6 (RP) - Uribe, Miz, Ashby, Mears, Koenig, Anderson

Remaining 5 Spots…
Bauers or Hoskins. Maybe both?
3-4 of Myers, Zastryzny, Fedde, Patrick, Megill (lock if healthy), Quintana

Hall I assume will be injured yet. Don’t see them trusting Payamps. Gasser not going to make it if does not pitch in regular season I don’t feel.

Lockridge a sleeper for pinch running and/or defense?

The NLDS goes:

Saturday (Peralta)
DAY OFF
Monday (Woody)
DAY OFF
Wednesday (Priester)
Thursday (Peralta)
DAY OFF
Saturday (Woody)

We only need 3 starters. Mis maybe in the BP, Quintana may be left off depending on his injury. I think Bauers and Hoskins both make it. If we face the Cubs we face 2 lefty starters, Boyd and Imanaga. If we face the Padres we face all right handed starters. The roster doesn't have to be in until we know who we face so that may be a factor.

If we make the NLCS we'd need 4 starters.

I expect they only carry 11 pitchers(3 starters, 8 relievers) which leaves 14 spots for their bench. Plenty of flexibility

I definitely see them having more hitters and fewer pitchers than usual. The 3-batter rule for relief pitchers still applies, so other than having more rest days per week, you can't manipulate pitching match-ups any easier than you can in the regular season. However, there are no such limits on PH'ing. I see Bauers and Hoskins in particular as locks, because sometimes you just need to bring a PH from the favorable side of the plate and hope for a home run. They have been good enough to earn a spot this year. Hell, Bauers is somehow still a dark-horse player of the month candidate. (I know it won't last, but it's still fun.)

Remember that you submit a new roster each round. There are typically more consecutive games in the pennant round than the divisional round, and the Brewers can add 1-2 pitchers at that time, if they're fortunate enough to advance. Also note that it's a bit of a fool's errand to predict every last roster spot until you know who you're playing. Quintana could get a spot against a team with enough strong LHB's, for example.

You still have 26 spots. I think I saw someone stop at 25.

Catcher
Contreras
Jansen

1B
Vaughn
Hoskins
Bauers

IF
Turang
Ortiz
Durbin
Monasterio
(Having only one backup here is what concerns me the most in terms of roster balance.)

OF/DH
Chourio
Collins
Perkins
Frelick
Yelich

SP
Peralta
Woodruff
Priester

Other P
Uribe
Ashby
Misiorowski
Mears
Koenig

Candidates for remaining 4 spots
Megill (if healthy)
Patrick (looks a little better than Anderson so far this month IMO)
Anderson (don't be surprised if he's a victim of cutting back on RHPs despite deserving a spot)
Quintana (Phillies, Padres, Mets have tOPS+ 95 or below against LHPs, with Mets at 83; MLB-worst is 82)
DL Hall (I haven't seen any indications that he's behind schedule for his anticipated late-September/early-October return)
Zastryzny (they will choose the two LHPs who look the healthiest and most effective at the end of the month, regardless of track record IMO)
Seigler (sorry haters, but I have him as a likely candidate due to only needing 11 pitchers - raking in AAA and batted-ball metrics still solid)

Longshots
Myers (if they need him, they may as well have already lost the game and can use Bauers or Seigler, lol)
Gasser (LHP health, or lack thereof, could give him an opening)
Fedde (thanks for 9 solid innings so far, but no - just, no)
Payamps (has not earned back much trust at this point)
Black (way behind Seigler IMO)
Lockridge (would require an injury to one primary CF option; one corner OF injury by itself probably would not do it though)

If Megill and Hall both are cleared for the postseason but don't get to pitch this month, then they will keep at least 12 pitchers because they will want them on the roster but won't know whether they're truly ready for game action.

Pretty sure that the Brewers are now 18-6 against other division leaders, counting both Seattle and Houston for the time being because they are deadlocked in the AL West. They'll probably finish the year 16-5, unless Houston and Seattle end the season tied, because they have a 2-1 record against both of them and it doesn't matter which one wins the NL West.

The Padres catching the Dodgers could hurt this stat a lot, because the Padres already won a series against the Brewers and would almost certainly have to win another one to catch LAD, thus replacing the 6-0 record against LAD with a 2-4 or 1-5 record against SDP. The Yankees catching Toronto would also hurt the stat.

Magic number to clinch the division is 1, because Cubs own the tiebreaker.
Magic number to clinch 1-seed in NL is 4, because Philly loses the tiebreaker.
Magic number to clinch homefield advantage in the World Series is 1 because Toronto loses the tiebreaker.
LAD has already lost a chance to catch the Brewers because they lose the tiebreaker.
Everyone else is more than 7 games behind Milwaukee.
