this is a fair point. However, the sack numbers are creeping back up, and stats can become empty calories. So some things to watch.

Sort of funny, these types of comparisons just strike me as such silly damage control.

On the one hand:
Yes - Caleb is improving

On the other hand:
Caleb was a "generational talent" taken #1 in the draft, where the opportunity cost was an absolutely massive haul of draft picks and picking a different QB in this draft class.

That throw Goff made to end the half, I don't remember Caleb having a throw like that in the NFL yet. I might have missed one last year in the general misery of the Bears, but that's the type of throw you need a generational talent to make.

So on the one hand, I'm happy that game 2 this year was probably the most accurate I've seen Caleb throw the ball, and given we're tied to him, all you can do is hope he continues to show incremental improvement, because we can't go back in time. That said, we have a long way to go before I'm sold on him though.

I'll be patient because there's literally nothing else to do except give him the best environment we can, cross our fingers, and hope for the best, but I'll also note it's a pretty long road from here to elite QB, and he sure has a lot of red flags at this point too.

We're moving the ball thru the air pretty well, and Caleb has been finding plenty of open targets to throw to. The bigger issues are penalties, inability to run the ball effectively, and sometimes, pass protection.

In game 1, I think the we had a lot of little problems, but I'd add on to the things you mentioned, Caleb's inability to throw an accurate ball was a huge problem. It was a close game, and probably any one of many things could have shifted the outcome.

In game 2, the biggest problem was our defense was absolutely annihilated, but fundamentally, we were totally outclassed everywhere. Nothing was going to shift the outcome of this game.

I don't play fantasy but while watching NFL GameDay they have a moving ticker along the bottom on which players are "sit em" and "start em". On the 'start em' list are Caleb, Rome, Swift, Dak, G Pickens, J Ferguson and Aubrey. Sit em list has the Bears defense. Only hope for the Bears defense is if the offense has a big chunk of time of possession.

Looks like Justin Fields is still out with that concussion. Tyrod Taylor is in at QB for the Jets.

Ashton Jeanty so far this year: 30 rushes for 81 yards, 2.7 yards per carry. Not exactly a red hot start to his career.

If I read it correctly the "dead cap" hit if we release Tyrique Stevenson after the season is about $422,000. I can't see how they keep him another season, let alone think about a contract extension. It just boggles my mind how bad he's gotten after a couple of good initial years since we drafted him. He started to go downhill last year and this year he has absolutely crapped the bed. I don't know if there is currently a worse CB in the entire league. I can't explain why he's gotten this bad. Does he have some un-announced nagging injuries or is his head just messed up? We are seeing a lot of guys regressing but Stevenson has been the worst example.

Wow, GB loses to CLE, who scores 10 points in the final 3 minutes.

I didn’t see the game, but another box score indicates it’s trending toward the League having figured out how to play big brother CJ Stroud. And also, Trevor Lawrence is not likely to amount to much of anything

Huge play, we just looked bad on both sides of the ball before that fumble.

When healthy, Edwards and Sewell should be the starters

Also just bench swift. He’s terrible and almost ruined the trick play (or maybe him being so bad made it work?). Hes a waste of money. And I’d rather have him waste it as a back up than a starter
