but then again it was a stupid play call in the first place, I'm glad that MLF acknowledged it. If Rodgers was still here he would have checked out of that in an instant.ReasonablySober wrote:JCP11 wrote:ReasonablySober wrote:I thought that looked like a simple case of Love thinking that his receiver was going to break and the receiver didn't.
They ran this play earlier in the game to Wicks so they were ready for it. Love's mistake was to not reading the first slant, in his mind he was going to Wicks all the way, can't do that in this league. It was the same play in the playoffs when Savage picked off Dak when he passed off the TE and was then waiting for the ball.
Yea, I just rewatched it for the first time. It was just a really bad pass with no chance of being completed. Didn't see the linebacker, threw it too low.
Not for nothing but also a dumb decision after the pick when he threw his body at the defender trying to make a tackle.

"Stupid" play call has nothing to do with throwing a stupid pass.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Counterpoint: They paid top money for a guard and drafted another tackle in the 2nd round because they don't trust Morgan as a starter anywhere on the line right now.
I mean, he was first off the bench after 1 snap for Tom. LaFleur has said he considers the team to have 6 starting OL. I think it was obvious all along they saw him as the future LT when they drafted him.
Maybe things will change after his performance in this last game, but I don't get the indication they don't consider him a future starter. When healthy, the Packers have one of the best OL in football so it isn't a huge indictment that he isn't starting right now.

I'd agree if the safety weren't playing so shallow. He didn't need to throw that one towards the sidelines.

I missed that Walker said we could go undefeated. Just tempting fate only to get your ass handed to you by a very good Browns defensive line.
Just straight up idiocy.

By comparison, Parsons was quoted of having high praise for Myles Garrett - from one player at the pinnacle of performance to his direct counterpart

Nobody is absolving Love for his INT, i mentionned earlier it was a horrendous INT. I don't know if Love has the freedom to check out of plays and check to another one because it was cover zero, everyone was down in the box. One vertical with Golden and it's game over.

I would hope in his 3rd year as a starter and 6th overall he's allowed to audible. And it appears as if he does so occasionally. But more importantly is he smart enough to recognize coverages and call the right play?

I think he is, remember the Wicks TD in that playoff game vs Dallas? That was all him. That look was a TD all the way if he checks to a slot fade or a sluggo. If i was a journalist i would ask him what he saw and he had the freedom to change the play because sometimes coaches don't give that option on certain plays.

I don't care if he changed the play or if he just ran the play that was called. In either situation, there's literally only one disastrous outcome - a turnover. You have to be 100% sure when you're making a throw like that. If you can't be, you'd be better off taking a sack.

If we're only talking about Love then yeah that was dumb and he would be the first to tell us. Howver that didn't faze him as he came back and drove the team down for a very makeable FG. This one hurts so bad because so many bad stuff needed to happen to lose and they all did one after another.

All problems yesterday stem from this. A historically bad performance by the O-line.
And Love absolved himself by getting us in position for a game winning field goal. But the line collapsed and they blocked the kick.

Not to mention it doesn’t matter who the special teams coach is under MLF. They’ve all sucked.
Coincidence?

Yea, the players are dumb. It doesn't take genius level special teams coaching to get guys to properly block for a fairly close field goal. Or for a return man to know when to catch the damn ball. We're cursed

They clearly prioritize keeping young, cheap, talented dudes who they think can grow and get better versus veteran players who can make a difference in special teams.

Watching the Lions beat the Ravens just makes this loss extra frustrating. These are the kinds of games you look back on in 3-months as the difference in getting the 1-seed and the bye.

Yup. I know bad loses happen. But man, I had this pegged as a win and had the Lions losing to the Ravens. Instead of us being 3-0 and them 1-2, we're both 2-1. Yuck.
