Can Durant and Jabari Smith play alongside each other defensively for substantial minutes?

Durant can't chase SFs around anymore. Is that what you want Jabari Smith doing?

Lol that's fair

Knicks want to keep both Shamet and Brogdon.
Well, then they need to trade someone.

"New York is currently $3.7 million below the second apron. That leaves it with enough room to sign one player with NBA experience to a guaranteed contract".

Yes.

Jabari is fine as a three.

And they should. They'll be lucky to get 82 games out of both players combined.

I like Brogdon a lot as a player, great lockerroom dude, but he absolutely cannot stay healthy anymore. He hasn't cracked 50% of games in a season for the past 2 years.

Russ kind of exacerbates the Rockets offense woes. They don't need a warm body, they've got Aaron Holiday for that. They need a leader who makes good team first decisions. Maybe after a few weeks they'll trade for somebody like CP3, Lonzo, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday or somebody like that. This injury is a huge blow to the team.

The injury is unfortunate but why is everyone overreacting?

Are we all forgetting that Van Vleet is actually kinda trash?

durant, sengun, and thompson is enough to run your offense through...you dont really need a pg, i rather have more defense and size and 3 point shooting since 2 of your 3 main guys cant really shoot

Would the Lakers trade AR to the Rockets? Would the Rockets be interested?

I’m guessing LA lets AR play out the year before dishing out the contract he wants

He’s shown signs already he wants to stay it just depends how much Mark wants to pay and if he can take another step.

Hell No!

And they won't. Lakers will pay him

I agree, however, i believe we will get outbid by another team. For the right price, the Lakers should pull the trigger. If I am the Lakers, I would consider a combination of a young player(s), salary and future assets in exchange for AR+ another player(s). I am just thinking outside the box. With what we have seen with Luka in the international play, Lakers might be more inclined to cash in AR.

Sengun and Amen will have to take the reigns in the playmaking department. Reed is too young and seems more of a shooting guard. Major blow to Houston. What ever happened to the injured player credit?

The Rockets can’t use the 14M Disabled Player Exception from VanVleet’s injury because they are hard capped at the first apron due to their offseason moves.

Here is my first attempt with PHX in the mix:
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/trade-machine/_/year/2025/team1/hou/team2/lal/team3/phx

Rockets In: Austin Reeves
Rockets Out: Amen Thompson 2027 1st (via BKN)
Rockets get a win now player in AR and get rights to secure him long term.

Lakers In: Amen Thompson, Grayson Allen, 2027 BKN 1st
Lakers Out: Austin Reeves, Jarred Vanderbilt, 2027 FRP
Lakers get a young player, a vet and some assets

PHX In: Jarred Vanderbilt, Tari Eason, 2027 LAL FRP Pick
PHX Out: Grayson Allen
PHX adds wing depth while getting a FRP

The Rockets would hang up the phone in a second. They wouldn’t give up Amen Thompson for Austin Reaves straight up, much less include a 2027 Nets first-round pick. Then, you have them trading Tari Eason, too.

Try being realistic with your trade scenarios next time.

Love it for the Lakers! I wonder if it might be a touch too good for the LAL side though ... but it's a nice haul for LA!

A touch too good for the Lakers? That’s putting it mildly. There is only one Nico Harrison, and he doesn’t run the Rockets.

Not to mention, this trade has the Rockets giving up Amen Thompson, Tari Eason and a 2027 Nets first-round pick for Austin Reaves. Rafael Stone would have to be drugged for that to happen.

Then, Phoenix gets Tari Eason and a first for Grayson Allen. The Rockets get hosed while the Lakers and Phoenix get great value for their assets.
