I want to get Jase on the floor. I think both he and Tyus will make the offense flow a lot more smoothly. Rain down the 3s, and don't sweat it if the defense takes a beating early on. Plenty of time to grind on that later when Suggs is back.

Do you...

A. Start Anthony Black at PG, keep Tyus Jones at backup PG and elevate Jett Howard to backup SG
B. Start Anthony Black at PG, keep Tyus Jones at backup PG and elevate Jase Richardson to backup SG
C. Start Tyus Jones at PG, move Anthony Black from backup SG to backup PG and elevate Jett Howard to backup SG
D. Start Tyus Jones at PG, move Anthony Black from backup SG to backup PG and elevate Jase Richardson to backup SG
E. Start Tyus Jones at PG, keep Anthony Black at backup SG and elevate Jase Richardson to backup PG
F. Start Jase Richardson at PG, keep Tyus Jones at backup PG and Anthony Black at backup SG

A lot depends on what we see in preseason. I'm inclined to give more opportunity to Jase than Jett, with starting minutes to Tyus over Black. But maybe we see things from Black and Howard this preseason that we haven't seen from them before.

I think scenario C is most likely, followed by A.

I prefer A.

Given that Corey started over AB though I'd guess Mosley will prefer C.

I think Jett beats out Jace due to experience, size, and shooting.

Starting Black is an "identity-first" move as he is the same archetype as Suggs.

Scenario C is very balanced. A backcourt that shoots 40% from three and doesn't make mistakes? Very tempting. If the defensive drop-off is too severe you can always pivot.

I think AB would work well in the starting lineup with Bane. He didn't work well with weak ballhandling SGs like Harris and KCP.

I think they saw this coming which was a big reason we signed Tyus. I remember being more concerned than others when we found out what the procedure was for Suggs. It was not insignificant. Don’t rush him out there, should be priority one. We need him healthy in April+. We have a lot of options here so I am not concerned. Tyus is the stable vet we can lean on. Maybe Black is ready for an increased playmaking role either way we’re covered. Then we have a rookie who we can step in if needed for spot bench minutes.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Nothing official, but a very-long winded way of saying he doesn't think he's ready to go.

I don't think people realize that cartilage transplant surgeries are still new and very experimental in terms of returning to basketball play, they have replaced the now extinct, once popular now problem plagued microfracture surgery. There are very few players who have had them, Lonzo ball was the last. I said this in the Suggs injury thread, I am shocked more people have not talked about if Suggs will return to be the same player or when he will be ready especially given what Lonzo went through and given the expectations the team has this season. I feel like people have been more concerned with Moe and his ACL tear, but a cartilage injury has shown to be more detrimental to a basketball career than another injury.

I would take Jase over Jett.

I'd like to start AB and hope for the best, but there's a lot on the line this season...so, maybe the MEM chemistry between Bane and Tyus earns the start...but I'm secretly rooting for AB to make himself impossible to defer any longer. I'm not 100% confident it works out, but he DOES present the highest upside for us - far more than Tyus (although Tyus is far ahead at the moment)

That's disappointing to hear, he is using all sorts of flowery language (probably to cope) to say that he is not ready and not close to it. I guess we should not count on Suggs being on the court for several months.

At least he's moving on court.

Even with our medical team, that can't mean he's more than a month or two away. Right???

Ah man... I never thought Moe would come back earlier than Suggs. However, that interview makes it seems more likely.

Anyway my answer is I think A. Start AB unless Tyus just blows everyone on training camp.

I didn’t glean that Suggs wouldn’t be ready by the beginning of the season from that quote.

That’s because he took the Magic school bus around the planet to not answer the question.

He did a politician answer. So we have to interpret accordingly based on our Magic-colored glasses.

He can't be that far away, I saw him working out with a trainer on Instagram drilling his jumpshot.....however maybe he needs extra time to get to game shape

Tyus and Jase together on the floor is a bit tricky. I'm starting Jones, let AB be his back up and Jase the backup SG over Jett.

Doing arthroscopic surgery on a knee at such young age ain't joke.

Kobe, Eric Gordon; Westbrook returned and played well after, but Lonzo, Blake never returned in pre-surgery level of play.

Embiid & Paul George both had similar surgeries in 2025 as well, non of them is ready to return. Lot of people inside 76ers speculate Embiid is done.
