In the end, don't want FVV around this team. That era is over.

Well not for Reed. I'll do it gladly for a Suns pick but that's not in the cards.

And we are not, so no.

I'd argue and think Bobby would also agree that we are still very much in asset acquisition mode...and also trying to figure out what we have with the young guys.

I agree that Reed and injured Fred is a step down from a healthy IQ in the immediate future...but how much of a step down is it vs the upside and salary cap savings that we will see going forward?

I would say that you can then play Gradey/Jakobe/Ochai a bit more and the shooting they provide can make up a bit for IQ. Start Shead and have Reed play some backup PG minutes while letting the other young guys play a bit more.

Originally I agreed with this before Masai was let go. But Keith Pelley has outright admitted since then, that he wants the rebuild expedited lol.

Houston will have to make a trade for point guard who can both facilitate and is effective in the pick n' roll, otherwise they're screwed.

Houston is in win now mode and can't waste a year of KD to wait for Fred to come back. We know Ime Udoka won't start Sheppard and otherwise they only have Aaron Holiday. They could start Amen Thompson at point guard but he doesn't shoot. IQ gives them shooting.

For us...we take back Fred who is on contract this season and has a player option for next season (he probably picks up the option). So we take back a shorter deal and get Reed for the future.

Thoughts?

Tough to hear about FVV going down. I was so looking forward to seeing him with KD.

If it wasnt for the dynamics between FVV and Scottie; I would do this trade in a millisecond. With Scottie, BI and RJ I dont think we need a IQ-type of a "PG"/combo guard/mid defender(at best) at that price. Personally, I am not a believer in IQ anyway though hopefully he proves me wrong this season in the playoffs.
At some point, at worst, Sheppard will become that 40%+ from 3 with that 40-inch vertical of his. Shead/Sheppard would be more than enough for the PG role around those 3 guys and Yak.

They’ll probably end up trading for Jrue but I’m still interested in seeing more of Reed. I’ll be honest I’m pretty surprised he hasn’t been better, he seemed like he was such a smart player. Not saying they’re the same player but I thought he’d be something like I’m expecting of Kon this year which is to just be an excellent complimentary piece that makes great decisions, efficient and in Reed’s case I thought he would be a little bit better as a defender relative to his position…and I still feel he has that but just hasn’t gotten the consistent playing time to get into a rhythm.

If I were them I’d at give Reed the first quarter of the season to show what he’s got then if he’s bombing seek out a Jrue trade (or something to that effect) that but I’d at least give my top 5 pick a shot.

Raps dodged a bullet. Lot of mileage on those knees.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

FWIW - that site is flawed.

1) For starters, escrow is not a "tax", it is just payments withheld which are repaid once it is confirmed what the revenues were. They get that back.

2) That site calc's canada federal tax at 37%. The highest bracket in Canada is 33%.

3) It also appears to be double dipping somewhat on the "jock tax" as you don't pay tax on both Ontario federal/provincial tax AND jock tax on every dollar you earn. You only pay Canadian taxes for income "earned" in Toronto, and jock taxes on the states you play in, not both simultaneously.

4) googling "NBA Medical Tax" brings me nothing back.

5) setting it to "Texas" brings back $0 state tax. This is inaccurate, as they still pay state tax on away games. ~ half his salary would still be applicable to state taxes.

So long story short, it is not anywhere near 72% different
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

**** deal.
Was hoping to see the Rockets make some noise as a championship contender with FVV as one of its stars.
