Just a couple sad pathetic individuals blatantly trolling with nonsense links and ranting away about politics in a basketball forum. Sports are supposed to be a way for people to relax and be entertained, while escaping the stresses of everyday life. And to bring people together, especially here in a place where we're all fans of the same team. But the BS excuse is "people don't want to be reminded of what they support" haha seriously STFU! Even if that load of crap were true then why should they have to be...here in a basketball forum! Or be misrepresented and then end up getting sucked into heated debates with an insufferable ignoramus that carry on for pages, instead of just chilling and talking ball. That's just a dumb excuse to try and selfishly feel good about doing your small part by preaching an agenda and to continue spreading crap to divide the board. I promise no one is changing their mind about anything based one what these clowns say in here haha.
The football forum is dead but the politics one is alive and well, especially if you are a radical lunatic. And football isn't a serious divisive topic like politics are...especially when sides and positions are being twisted and news delivered without proper context or even made up like happens here. So there's the other lame excuse shot down. Everyone's given them the last word over and over in the interest of being civil but they just don't stop. It's clear trolling. Sure there's freedom of speech, but when you post here there are rules and considerations which are in place to make visiting a pleasant experience for everyone to discuss sports. It's like walking into church and yelling a bunch of curse words and then acting like people are trying to suppress your right to say what you want when they don't welcome it and tell you to quiet down or leave haha. Such stupid excuses for this continued conduct smh...
I'm sure you're equally worked up about the "Around the NBA" threads when RealGm has a General Board for those discussions.
There's an NBA draft board too, and yet we have NBA draft threads.
This thread began 3 years ago with posts about F1 racing. This is not an F1 racing forum. There is an "Other Sports" forum on RealGM.
It's obvious what the objection to news posts is and why. That reason has nothing to do with being off topic in an off topic thread.
I mean last I checked none of you are mods. If they want to clean this thread up its up to them, but imo it comes across like trolling, posting extremely divisive stuff and attacking anyone that responds (in fairness you aren't attacking so much as offering snide commentary). And political discussion isn't allowed on most other team boards on this site for whatever its worth, probably for a reason. Whether its trolling or not aside, the phrase read the room applies as well, and when I look at the thread its basically two people who want to gossip about lefty rage bait and a bunch of other people who don't care for it and would rather not get into heated arguments with other posters.
Also nobody is impressed you are unafraid to have the conversation on a basketball forum, a place that's generally going to lean left anyways. If you're really about having difficult conversations, go where the conservatives are, try to understand their viewpoints without creating the strawman beforehand and making assumptions about their views. People aren't asking you to stop because they're "afraid to have the conversation", they're saying it because they know where the conversation leads because the same conversations are being had everywhere else on the internet already, as another poster stated. You aren't enlightening anyone, and nobody is afraid of their own convictions, they just prefer to keep their politics out of sports. I haven't seen one concession from any of you on any of your views, so how in the world can you claim you're just trying to have a conversation? No, you're lecturing and moralizing to people who do not, and will not share your views, so that you can feel better about yourselves. And when the olive branch is extended, you swat it away and claim they are afraid to discuss things (while proving you're unable to understand basic concepts like collective guilt and why they're logically flawed (not you but point stands)).
That being said, if the mods don't care, you guys can continue to have a lefty circle jerk obviously. Though by the same token, other posters are allowed to voice their annoyance.
