I loved Carl Landry.

I disagree with a few posters above. I think Houston is/was a legit contender. They've got an amazing set of front court players who are all young and still rising. And they just added Durant to it.

But losing Fred Van Vleet is huge. That guy was a great glue/intangibles guy. Was a good Hoop Collective this morning on the Rockets. Their consensus was Houston needs Reed Shepherd to justify his draft position and/or make a mid-season trade for a PG once they figure out what the team looks like.

Holiday would be a good option but can they afford him?

I don't think Houston could get Holiday without adding multiple 1st's because Portland would have to take back long term contracts

FVV is a major hit for Houston. Everyone was really high on their offseason, but they don't really have anyone else to replicate what he does and their guard depth in general is terrible. Instead of getting another guard they opted for to pay a 3rd center $7 mil a year.

If I'm Houston, I would consider going after Malik Monk. He is not a point but his passing is better than you would think. He is basically an older better version of Jalen Green for less money. Monk's trade value is low, but Houston need is high. So, someone would have to blink 1st.

As a Bucks fan I hope it could open up a pathway to get off Kuzma I a multi-team deal before the season.

This whole thing is Schrödinger's Billionaire. Where a billionaire is somehow simultaneously a visionary, genius businessman who is too smart to do something so blatantly against the rules and lacking integrity...while also simultaneously being just a poor naive soul who was scammed by his own sponsor.

And yes, there is still ZERO explanation for giving Kawhi any money in this scam. That's what cannot be explained whatsoever. Why is Kawhi being paid at all? What benefit does Aspiration get from their secret relationship with Kawhi and paying him more than any other celebrity they work with? If Aspiration was simply just scamming the Clippers/Ballmer why would they not just take the money and walk away with it like any other scammer would?

Didn’t they make like 2 million bucks and got closer to Ballmer for future influence. And they were trying to get the stadium naming rights.

From memory, He “invested” $50 and Kahwi was promised $28 million in payouts over a couple years and $20 million in stock (worthless), so the company got a massive cash on hand infusion for playing along and paying back some of it, eventually.

They should trade that for Paul George.

I think the picks would have to be going to LAC in a George deal.

Correction - They should be forced to trade that for Paul George.

They should be forced to trade whatever it takes to get SGA, and then be forced to trade SGA for Paul George.

Yeah that seems like a pretty good fit, maybe the best they can do. I had been thinking trade for Tyus in December. But actually it'd probably be best to do both if they can. The big problem here is that they were already short on ball-handling. Much as I like Reed, it seems very unlikely to me that he's ready to play on the ball full time. They probably don't think it's an issue because they're planning on running through Sengun and KD and will have Amen bring it up. But that's a lot of 48 minute weight for just those three guys, and there are going to be times when they'll have difficulty getting into their offense.

KD had no issue bringing the ball up and getting into the offense in game five of the 2021 ECF, but that was against a coach that refused to double him and kept playing drop coverage.

Fan fiction above if KDs foot was shorter.

(Idk I tried making a joke about confusing ECSF and ECF but I'm tired and couldn't land it)
