Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
So we have:
Wiggins at 89
Powell at 82
Herro at 68
Bam at 21
Not digging into the bottom of the list but holy **** Mobley at 13 and Williams at 11 are glaring. Both obviously very good players who play both sides of the ball but they’re both in perfect situations. You could be Bam, AD, maybe even Jaren in place of Mobley and the Cavs wouldn’t miss a beat and probably would be better outside of Jaren. Williams I don’t even know where to start, he’s ahead of some guys that are just flat out better.

Wonder if we’ll cut Terry now to avoid the tax
If the Heat potentially saw themselves in this position, then the Highsmith trade looks really dumb. If waiving Terry was always a real option to get out of the tax then they could've held onto Haywood and not given up on asset to trade him and duck the tax + sign a big (Dru was always going to be there waiting for us). This FO voting structure mixed in with Nick randomly making executive decisions feels so scattered.
I bet Haywood is moved for an asset this season after we gave one up to dump him.

I had herro ranked between 70-80 on a previous offseason thread, 68 is fine..
Hey i got an idea, lets give the 68th ranked player 50 million per season

What asset did we give up to dump Haywood?
I thought it was just the Nets sent us a 2nd round pick that will never convey.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
I just read the list.. there are a lot of players between 70-90 that i think are better than Herro.. a lot.. like 80% of the list.
Nembhard, Mcdaniels are both clearly better. And then there are others who are better than him

Edit: I guess we’ve managed to stay under the tax somehow, good move though in reality probably doesn’t move the needle

he's an expiring 3&D on a tiny 5M expiring. that's exactly the kind of insurance move a contending team makes when injuries start happening. We were sold on the local media that the FO felt it was now or never to duck the tax with no signing likely until after all star break for that purpose ... clearly that's not the case so wtf is the reasoning now?

they will find a way to gain 1 by trading Jaquez just to trade it to dump Keshad Johnson's salary

List is pretty lazy, but at the same time I think people really underestimate simple math. If you take the two best players from every team in the NBA, that's already 60 players. So being ranked around that zone pretty much is an acknowledgement that on average that said player can be a top2 guy on any given team. I wouldn't really take it as some big disrespect.
At the end of the day, it's just some random journalist sharing his list that he put together quickly and without much thought.
It's probably slightly low, but he is ahead of RJ Barrett (100), Beal (86), Powell (82), DeRozan (80), Lavine (72), and Coby White (71) while only slightly behind Lamelo Ball (63) and Austin Reaves (60).
Still, the list is incredibly skewed towards role players who have none of the responsibilities top-2 guys have. And the recency bias is glaring.

At the very least gives us center depth whatever that’s worth as achiuwa is undersized

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.6
Hopefully someone who’s desperate for some scoring takes a flyer on Rozier.
I feel like he could maybe turn it around in the right situation. I think there’s too much pressure on him here needs a change of scenery.

Hes a mid season buyout candidate.. but by then if we are doing so badly, we may want to keep him to keep the tank going..
It is spoelstra and the miami heat tho, we will be a mid team not historically terrible..

It's not a serious list, not based on anything analytic.
Herro ranking from advanced metrics in 24/25:
#32 based on total win shares (#53 based on win shares / 48)
#19 based on VORP
#36 based on BPM
#35 based on PER
Herro ranking from credible models in 24/25:
Herro was #49 based on DARKO
Herro was #62 based on LEBRON
Herro was #35 based on EPM
Probably a fair ranking for Herro is around 35-50 range, considering also that a lot of these advanced metrics rate role players highly when they play off of main creators and I also didn't filter for tiny sample sizes of guys only playing like 10 games or smth. like that.
You can argue he loses like 5-10 spots because he is going to miss the start of the season like 10-15 games, #68 is just not really anything objective, but clear subjective bias.

Shaq Diesel show yourself! You should not be promoting gambling and giving out picks when you don’t have an edge. This is a bad look and some Heat fan degenerates who keep up with 5reasons might actually think you’re a profitable bettor and want to follow your picks because of your platform and lose their money in the process. This is a bad look.
