The thing people continue to miss is that Brunson and KAT are still on the floor. So whoever you add to "help" the defense simply doesn't take that point away even a rim protector. They will just still try to put Brunson and KAT in the actions.

The best way to reach our ceiling is to make the offense so unguardable that even mediocre defense doesn't matter. So truly putting teams in a position to have to use there center to guard KAT proved the most effective early in the season when we were in the running for the best offense in the league.

Lets play fast, lets play deep rotations so we can play at a high level and not rely on starters for 40 minutes a night so we can give that extra effort on the defensive end.

Its also important to keep Mitch healthy all year and limiting from starting i think is important to managing those minutes. Getting him through the season and healthy for playoffs needs to be a priority.

Deuce is also our best POA defender so his screen navigation will help a lot with the starters and move Mikal and OG more into that off ball robber help defender roles which they are best at as well (dig recover dig recover and close out to deter drives and get back to shooters).

Also with Mikal not having to navigate the most screens in the league anymore I hope that will help his offensive efficiency.

I think the rebounding will be fine. KAT is a excellent defensive rebounder and yes we certainly will miss Mitch's offensive rebounding but if you are really efficient offensively offensive rebounding isnt as vital...especially if you are taking and making more 3's which needs to be a priority for us.

Deuce is the answer. He is low usage, good in C&S and can be a secondary ball handler to move Brunson off ball more as well. And his minutes with Brunson were our best duo in the post season.

You fight fire with fire...you don't try to mitigate a bad defender and hurt the spacing to go along with it because trying to hide a bad defender in the NBA really never works.

I wouldn't look too much into this as Brown is experimenting lineups in the preseason games. It could change tomorrow and we could see McBride with the starters and someone like Shamet in the grey jersey.

I don't know if getting rid of Thibs will fix something, or that if Brown is the one who can or will fix it. I just wondered if a different defensive scheme would have the team play better as a whole. Since Thibs had some schematic flaws like giving up open 3s and trying to force his big man to drop, that made it look bad at times.
