Obviously not the sole reason but man that Springer missed double probably changes the whole game. Like I dont think its an exaggeration to say that probably wouldve increased our odds to win like 30-40% lol

Hoping this team ends up in a WC series and has a quick exit. Only way to move on from Shapiro, Atkins & Schneider.

The fact that the King of Copium on Jays twitter Chris Black is playing into it, is extremely laughable. What a clown that guy is.

They should have already dropped scherzer from the rotation. He is due to get shelled tonight. Easy win for Boston tonight

If they've survived all the WC controversies and disappointing seasons in the previous 5 years, they'll most certainly survive this season.

I'd rather they win the world series, but to each their own I guess.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

I would be surprised if Shapiro hasn't already been extended, or at least told it is a formality. He was an Ed Rogers hire, so no incentive to make a change like there was with Masai, and the team is going to be hosting playoff games in some capacity this season (either as a WC team or in the Division Series). Unless Shapiro wants to leave, I think it's probably already agreed to.

I think if there's another winless postseason, there will be public pressure to drop the front office. 270M payroll and no wins in the playoffs in 10 years, I think that would be a realistic path to do it. But I've thought that in the past too and they have kept them together, so who knows.

Springer knows a thing or two about cheating. Can't put it past him that his resurgence is because he's found another way to cheat.

Let's hope. That would mean this team might actually make the playoffs next year instead of what is looking like a pretty predictable falloff in 2026.

The only other way with this FO is Rogers keeps increasing payroll and they keep spending a bunch of money in hopes that a couple of them hit.

Blue Jays will have plenty of money coming off the books- with just Bassitt, Scherzer, Green, Swanson, and Manoah- that is over 52 million right there. Letting Bichette most likely walk and signing elsewhere is another 11.2 million, not counting a few other fringe guys that this organization is paying out (a million for Turnbull, Dominguez and IKF not being brought back, etc). So the money will be there. My only concern is that I do not want Ross Atkins or Shapiro making the decisons on how to spend that money, as evident by their spending decisions last off-season.
This team paid $15.5 million over one year to a broken down 41 year old Scherzer, absorbed almost 100 million of Gimenez's contract (which is close to 72 million guaranteed over the final three years from 2027 to 2029); and they paid 92.5 million over 5 years to an overrated Santander when no other team was willing to pay that amount. Not to mention Jeff Coughman getting 33 million over 3 years, when three teams passed on signing him. This front office also gave Vlad 500 million over 14 years, which was absolutely ridiculous as this organization outbid themselves when they did not have to. Part of me wishes that Rogers takes a good hard look at this front office this off-season, and come to the realization that they can definitely improve on Shapiro/Atkins who have been in charge for 10 years now with a top 5 payroll.
