The reporters asked good questions and the answers were candid. This wasn't all fluff.

I just read someone say that this press conference gave a sense of stability. The partnership between Wyc and Bill Chisolm seems genuine, and importantly the new owner really is an actual Celtics fan.

Brad, Chisolm, and Wyc's explanation of why they had to get under the second apron was very clear.

Is this ironic ? I legit can't tell. Not really sure how anybody can take anything away from a conference where all Chisholm did was spew a bunch of cliché corporate speak. I don't think the guy gave like one hard number or figure throughout the entire thing even when pressed to do so (when he was asked about the voting share breakdown of the new board for instance). But hey at least he said he wants to be held accountable so he must a trustworthy fellow.

And that has borne out to be true so far despite any number of people trying to manufacture trades with players that Brad has shown no real intention of moving to try to duck said tax.

They're definitely building a arena. I'm not that happy that he basically said it's not happening without the Bruins though. Needing that giant space carved out for a hockey rink prevents you from getting the fans seated on top of the court the way it does in other non hockey arenas.

Because they immediately added a replacement for Niang and a better defender which I think this team needed. Also because they didn't trade Hauser or Derrick White for cap savings despite some rumors suggesting they might look to do so. It's always been about getting under the 2nd apron. It has NEVER been about ducking the tax altogether..

Sure but they spent some of those savings right away for a player they thought fit their roster better. Brad literally confirmed this today. Saving the money was a nice ancillary benefit of the two-fold move they made to move Niang and end up with Boucher. The bigger point is that they're not making moves with the primary purpose of cap savings. Ducking the luxury tax is not a priority in any transaction they might consider. If it happens, great. That should be the takeaway.
