Another ST blunder at the end of the game.

One of, if not the best fourth quarter of the year.

That was a fun game

The new kickoff rules are so **** dumb. Just go back to placing it at the 25 on touchbacks and that instantly solves most of these return opportunities from happening. A team essentially only needing 15-yards to get into FG range is such a stupid advantage with modern rules and offenses. It's never been about "player safety" no matter how much the league wants to gaslight fans.

Not sticking with what has been working is still one of those things NFL coaches can't grasp. This is going to piss me off a lot this year when our great defense plays a soft prevent in the 4th quarter. When you've been shutting the other team down all game, why change things? "We might give up a big play!" So instead of a 40-yard play that took 10 seconds, you gave up 3 15-yard plays that took a minute. Wow, you burned an extra 50 seconds. Great job.

I think most fans like kickoff returns which is why the NFL is trying to implement rules that increase the amount of returns and limit injuries. But yea when something like last night happens that game winning drive feels very contrived

With FG kicker's ranges now reaching absurd levels, they can't have the penalty advance the ball to the 40. The offense only needs about 20 yards to get in range at that point.

If they want to keep these dumb rules, narrow the goalposts 3ft on each side.

It isn't hard to avoid a penalty.

I'd be curious to know the number of kickoffs or punt returns with penalties - league wide. To my eye-test, it seems like 2 out of 3 kickoff returns run back have some penalty. I know the Packers seem more undisciplined than many, but that penaty issue seems to be everywhere.

I'm talking specifically about penalties for improper kickoffs - for kicking it out of bounds or outside the of the landing zone - from the 20 yard line to the end zone.

Nope, that was good too but it was dumb football in the fourth quarter by Baltimore that lost the game. Henry's fumbled and Harbaugh being too conservative.

This was good defenses getting beat by execution. Either way both of those are so far in the top five for best fourth quarters as we are almost 1/4th of the way through the season.

A partial answer to the penalties and kickoffs
---Special teams penalties up 32%

Looked it up because I know people are mad about special teams. Looks like league-wide that NFL special teams penalties are up 32%, likely because of the volume of kick returns that are actually live now. If you have two special teams penalties per game (mostly holding on returns), you're actually a more disciplined team than average in 2025's NFL.
