I'm now half way through Original Sin, which is interesting and is better because Michael C Hall is the Executive Director and narrator. I love how Batista. LaGuerta, and Masuda are being played, but I think the match for Deb wasn't great. One thing about Deb is she was very tall and thin, and never seemed childlike despite her ability to get excited easily. This younger Deb is more like many more ordinary teens. She also just doesn't say the work "fuсk" right.

Yup i agree they (the writers) made Dexter do that thing so that Harrison would hate him. The writers just weren't smart enough to do it within the parameters of Dexter's character.

And yeah the ending was strange, because the writers seem intent on killing Dexter at the end of every series, so i wonder how Resurrection will finish...

Just curious, do you have any predictions of how Resurrection will finish (after the 3 or 4 seasons, hopefully 5 seasons), as in will Dexter live happily ever after (keep on killing forever, since i don't believe he can stop permanently), or will he end in prison, or six feet under?

The only think i didn't like about Original Sin was the flashbacks to Harry's earlier years of working with Dexter's biological mother. It really interrupted the momentum of each episode... and it was multiple flashbacks per episode. If it was just ONE flashback per episode i'd have no problem with it.

Thanks for pointing out Deb's tone of cursing, i'll check that out next time i watch Original Sin. Deb's still in high school so i excused her different body shape because a lot of teens have "baby fat" and then lose it during their 20s. But still, that doesn't explain away her lack of height, so yeah its probably not the best casting...

Plus i think they should have made young Deb use the Fword in more creative ways (there were a couple of creative ones, but too many were dull), because that is a great opportunity for comedy which the adult Deb did great with.

Young Masuka was very well cast, and had a couple of hilarious moments, like when Masuka and Batista and Dexter were going to lunch together and Masuka danced his way into the restaurant. And also when Masuka was standing behind a female colleague and pretended to make love to her :o

Young Batista was too boring in my opinion, even though some people don't develop much of a personality until they're older, i still felt like Batista was just too flat and lifeless... when they could have chosen to make him obsessed with romance and constantly flirting with women.

Young Dexter showed some really good acting range, and was good comedically, and also was like a superhero at the end, a really epic rescue scene and cool music too.

Wow, you really love these series. I hope we soon learn of never hear about all the killings you commit using what you've learned from Dexter

Yes, Masuka was so well done and so funny I'm laughing even now as I think of him. Batista just looked a lot like the "original" from the original series. Young Dexter comes across as brilliant and a totally fast learner. It was interesting seeing him getting covered with blood and going through the process of learning how to do things more safely. Sarah Michelle Gellar was good as his stern but caring boss in forensics, even though we mostly know her for her work as a younger actress as Buffy the Vampier Slayer. (Every teenage boy liked her a lot)

I also had some questions about the flashbacks to Harry and Dexter's mom, although I liked the darker colors used to indicate these were from an earlier era. HIs mom was the girlfriend of a druggie and was rather stupid, but she evolved over a few episodes into a sophisticated, bright and very talented woman who (until the end) really manipulated high level criminals. It just didn't seem possible - I'd always though of his mom as a rather helpless junkie type. What does make sense about her being so brilliant, though, is how smart her children were. Even Brian was brilliant, if twisted beyond even Dexter.

So how should Resurrection end? The one thing I know for sure is, 'Not for a number of additional seasons." Dexter is a complex character who merits the attention and love of many fans while he does things none of them condone. So he's full of contraditions. Could he give up his Dark Passenger? No. Could he wind up just going on forever this way? Maybe. But I think however they write it, we should see a Dexter whose end is as filled with uncertainties as his character is and baffles us enough that we wind up talking about him well after the Knicks win another chip

I noticed young Dexter has to use his athleticism and wrestling skills a lot, because he's not very sneaky yet, good idea from the writers.
Sarah Michelle Gellar's character has great chemistry with young Dexter, and if the series somehow continues (after Resurrection finishes in 3-5 years i think they'll regret axing Original Sin) i hope they date and become lovers.

That thing you said about Dexter's Mom being a brilliant mind, i agree it makes good sense because of her sons having mad genius DNA. And i never thought of it until your post, so thanks for the insights.

After hearing Dexter talk to the camera in the final scene of the season-ending episode of Resurrection, it sounds like he regrets trying to give-up his Dark Passenger... and regrets trying to isolate himself (in Iron Lake).

LOL I'm all in favor of hot relationships between attractive characters, but Sarah Michelle and young Dexter doesn't quite work out -- she's 20 years older than him in Original Sin. She would be about 35-40 years older than him after Resurrection. Poor woman, he just might wear her out

I can't comment on Resurrection because I haven't yet begun to watch that series. As much as I'm trying to develop my sense of precognition, I still can't see how this will end.

Yes, we saw Dexter using his physicla strength instead of needles to subdue his target victims. He also seemed to have a few more Ju Jitsu skills when he's older.

I hope when I get to the end of this season of Resurrection, it's before the NBA season starts so there we'll still be able to discuss this wonder wacky world of serial killers.

Well, I finally finished Resurrection. Now I'm all done with Must See Dexter TV before the season starts. Whew. For anyone who is on the fence, Resurrection is awesome and ends with one of the best episodes ever. No spoilers, and don't try to read about it in advance. Just watch. I can't believe I streamed 11 seasons of Dexter in the offseason. LOL
