Good luck getting reporters to ask questions that aren't about Kuminga (or by extension if they don't get signed first, Melton, Seth, GP2, and Horford). "Steve, why do you only have 9 rostered players when October and training camp starts this week and preseason games next week?"
There's no real game until October 21 (national game!) so I don't think there is any real urgency to wrap things up before Wednesday. Media Day is not important. Horford, Melton, Payton, and Seth Curry are all but signed on the dotted lines. And Warriors will have a load of training camp invite players ready to go. Fans like to get anxious but the timing has zero effect on the Warriors success this season.
I can’t remember what podcast it was (maybe Zach Lowe’s?), but the was something pointed out which I hadn’t considered - the guys who are waiting to sign contracts (Horford, Melton, GP2, and apparently Seth) probably are going light with their workouts to avoid injuries. While none of them are necessarily big minute guys, there may be some conditioning problems or extra rust from them at the start of the season. So there might be a real effect, albeit small, from that domino effect of Kuminga’s situation not bing resolved.
