Pretty darn good defensive player.

Offensive - not so much other than the offensive rebounding.

This is why I do not understand the Yang selection, totally nonsensical

DC is already an elite/near elite rim protector but defensively positioned as a drop big with a rudimentary offense that you hope develops in time

Yang is nowhere in the same vicinity as DC defensively, also a drop big, but a much worse one defensively and has a semi? developed offensive repertoire that is TBD if it will translate to the NBA.

They would’ve been better going after a mobile big like Beringer or Newell to compliment DC when POR faces quicker more mobile lineups, instead, they double down with someone worse defensively?

Yang has to be elite offensively to make up for his woeful defensive & underwhelming rebounding and “Jokic level” he is not

Not sure how Yang will develop. When Reath and Williams go elsewhere (my guess) next season, that take you down to two Cs.

The swing and the miss to me was not taking the 23rd pick and an unprotected 2026 from the Pelicans. If Yang is still there at 23, fine. If not, take the best mobile big. Fleming was still available if Yang was gone.

Having (potentially) two swings at a top 4 pick in next year's draft could have been franchise altering.

Having said all that - this is the Donavan Clingan thread. I could potentially see him taking a small leap this year. If he cuts down on his fouls and improves his FT% he is going to end up being a very good pick.
