The league seems like its trying to attract young audiences, but the most reliable TV watchers are older. I am not yet in that demo, but you really need to make games matter, you need to make teams matter, you need to make it more than just a "highlight league" and you can't placate to the player empowerment. Nothing wrong with using a platform to give a voice, but you can't alienate half the country one way or another consistently.
I have been much more sour on the NBA since the punishment against Miles Bridges was levied. Not going to forget the images of LeBron dapping him up on the sidelines, showing encouragement and support.

Kawhi's Agent Pushed Aspiration to Pay Up. The Feds Closed In. Ballmer Made a Quiet Donation.

Adam Silver is gonna be pissed when he wakes up to see this. Again

Edit: Pablo dropping this on Clippers media day is diabolical.

Leonard's agent is directly implicated in the scam per texts with Aspiration's CFO. Leonard should be suspended indefinitely

To summarize (taken from another poster)

1. The options Kawhi got, were guaranteed put options. :o !!

2. It wasn't just uncle Dennis, who is being portrayed as the only villain, Leonard's official agent was making payment demands to Aspiration.

3. After Joe Sandberg, the man Ballmer claims defrauded him, was indicted, late in 2024, Ballmer made a donation to Sandberg's charity.

Silver doesn't realize that he's removing the human element from basketball. Treating middle class players like pawns. Lifestyles getting people injured all the time. Reducing the number of games anybody normal can see by spreading the games out over so many streaming services - most of which I'd never watch if it weren't for the Knicks. Throw in a little corruption. Diluting talent with expansion. If we play games with Europe, how TF are we going to know those players and teams well? It will be just abstract basketball, and they might just as well boost the AI in 2K and let us all watch that. The idea of getting to know players and identifying with a team has been, to me and I'm sure to other fans, a huge part of why this game is so great. As a kid, it killed me when my favorite player was traded or retired. Now they're becoming fungible to the league and I really don't like that.

money's just too good now. a lot of these guys just don't have the financial incentive to do and be the best they can, show out and do everything they can to earn that next contract anymore.

not advocating for the guys to be paid less but it's just how it is, i get it. they already have life changing money, i'd do the same if i was in their shoes and not a superstar

The 76ers situation is so ... hilarious to me Grimes. They clearly don't want Grimes because of McCain and Edgecombe. With McCain's injury and Paul's status a mystery, you'd think the 76ers would look to at least lock in Grimes. They want him at 8 mil AND to wave the no trade clause seems dirty AF. If they're playing hard ball with him, I can't imagine what the lowball offer to Yabu was.

I feel like the league is dying a slow death. There's no reason to really care about it anymore, the players don't care, why should fans?

I literally only watch the Knicks. Once the Knicks lost I don't think I watched a minute of the Finals.

Myles Turner is the prototype center that you HAVE TO play alongside Giannis

Bucks went ALL IN on the move with good reason

Blocked shots and threes, that's Myles all day

Turner is also 8 years younger than Brook Lopez

Porzingis is the only other guy I would say could fit, but he is less likely to stay healthy

Realistically, Giannis should embrace being a center. The team would be better with a configuration where the opposing center has to guard either Giannis, or a wing that can get by them off the dribble.

He won't do that though, just like he didn't like setting screens for Dame. So they have to go out and build the team with him being a 4 in mind.

he doesn't make them a contender. they lost brook and dame and gained just him. they're worse and they weren't a contender last year.

Whether it's a center or wing playing alongside Giannis in the frontcourt, Giannis still needs 4 shooters on the floor with him at all times.

Giannis probably plays center during the minutes he is paired alongside Bobby Portis. Portis cannot block shots though.

Portis is a big, putting big wings around Giannis would be the best way to maximize his talents. Having another big on the court with him just means you can put your center on that player, and while the shooting is an issue what would be more damaging is shooting & someone that can drive off the catch.

They are building around him wrong at this point in his career, the ideal would be guard, guard/wing, wing, big wing, Giannis.

The Knicks are all guys who do care and try as hard as they can to win, so they're not only a great team but a great story. I feel that some players degrade the league despite good play, and that's pretty bad. Don't feel bad about how you feel. There are only a few good stories left in the NBA.

My question is what shtty life choices has Love made where he has to endure this misery at his current age. Retire. Go be with your family.

They have so many good defensive pieces. Who do they go to in the playoffs though?

But yeah, they'll be a problem.
