Obviously, there is no guarantee CMB matches what Scottie did as every player is different but I see a path where CMB can be very productive for this club in year 1. 10/5 with good defense is what I see him averaging. I think the minutes will be there for him.

Are we comparing freshman CMB to Scotty or Sophomore CMB because that would be unfair.

Could say comparing Freshman CMB to Freshman Scottie is also unfair as CMB was a year younger.

You are right. Two things can be true at the same time. I wouldn’t compare CMBs freshman college season to Scottie’s last year of high school. There’s flaws in the comparison and some of that should be taken into account.

Even though he was the same age as Scottie his sophomore season, having the experience and knowing what to expect while also starting and being the best player on the team he’s most likely going to produce more than freshman backup pg Scottie Barnes.

South Carolina relied heavily on CMB while Scottie was a backup pg.

With that being said I expect big things out of both CMB and Scottie this season and I can’t wait to see how they develop.

It is. His lower base is horrible for consistent NBA shooting from range. He’s got alot of work to do.

I think it is partially the “lefty’s always look weird” aspect to
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

It looks wide. That said, he's probably only going to be shooting spot up 3's and it won't matter at all. He's never going to be Dick coming off a screen.

I kept watching it wondering when the "smooth" part of the clip was going to come in

That 2nd shot was smooth.

I don't think the wide base is an issue, I think it's more of a stabilizer for his power.

he was so dominate in college inside he never needed to shoot...the shot is lagging behind with lack of practice but with correct effort theres a chance it can be at least solid RJ 35% level or even better...he shot a lot of free throws and shows a good shooting stroke with solid results

im not an expert on this but I know that players sometimes catch the ball low so that they have the option to make a move easily as well as shoot, so maybe they train shooting from that position too.

I think the expectations are him being relatively raw offensively, but his defensive instincts look impressive, and he seems to have a quick first step around the basket with good hands.

I wouldn't expect much more than a 10-15 minute a night player who averages 7 and 5 in year 1.

I am for sure. Long term fit is going to be kind of ugly but I think he has late bloomer type written all over him. Meaning I think he really breaks out into potential star in year 4-5 or even later once the roster is clear and he has the green light.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

It's just not biomechanically optimal for creating lift on his shot. You can see in the clip that is 90% upper body. It's a terrible technique.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

The team has CMB working out with the forwards not the 5s. I don't think we're going to see him at the 5.
