The fact that we're unironically viewing AJ Green and a JAG role-player on a camp deal (Coffey) as potential starters shows just how badly the front office has been at trying to address the perimeter talent drain on this team post-championship (Jrue/Donte/Khris/PJ). Any hope I have of contending for anything beyond a 1st round exit is still gonna pretty much rely on if/when they can flip some assets and Kuzma/Bobby for another legitimate Top-30-50 player.

No minutes for KPJ?
This is what I’m saying.
Completely ignoring the probability Kuzma gets any SF minutes…. You have 7 guys (6 of them young) needing minutes at these three positions to justify their next contracts. Most signed team friendly prove-it deals. These guys aren’t going to be happy with 18-20 mpg.
It’s a situation of our own creation, borne of necessity, but I don’t think you go into the year like this. Too much potential for lockeroom meltdown.
One could argue that it’s by design, for better or worse. If there is a locker room meltdown, literally everyone besides Giannis, Myles, Bobby and Kuz (gross) are on expendable deals that can either be straight up cut or traded before the deadline due to our new financial flexibility. If there’s a locker room cancer, it can be dealt with fast.
Sure, the 1-2 year minimum deals could provide for some frustration among the players who aren’t getting the time/opportunity. There can and will be some sort of friction there, but the competitive aspect of it all excites me as a fan.
We have a lot of guys fighting for a rotational spot and I’m fascinated to see what the rotation looks like coming out of camp.
All of this with Doc Rivers at the helm *gulp*

And there it is. A bit of sanity in a strange world. Obviously he should start, yet there were many who clamored for guys like Rollins and Anthony. I never understood that. You have a guy who has all star level talent and you have a team that desperately needs another all star. So you give that talent every chance to develop and cross your fingers. This is exactly what I wanted to hear from Doc.

KPJ should start, he's the only one with all star potential, not saying he gets there but none of the other guys even have a chance. This team needs people other than Giannis that can create opportunities, we need to give him 32+ mpg until the deadline and see if he can do it.
Now we just need a quote from Doc saying he recognizes Kuzma should come off the bench because the spacing sucks with Giannis. Plus maybe he can put up enough numbers against 2nd units to deal him at the deadline.

Agreed that’s encouraging from Doc.
If Cole balls out maybe he gets the starting 2 spot but unless Porter aka Scoot flames out (definitely could happen!) it seems like Rivers is at least talking the talk about investing in his development.

He's saying all the right things, but I'll believe Doc's adopted a modern, analytic view of NBA offense when I see it. If we're not at least Top-10 in 3PT attempts, then it's just empty, meaningless words.

We’ve been listening to Doc Rivers “say the right thing” for well over a decade now. We can only hope and pray that other voices in the organization have emerged as voices of reason.

Doc interviews are legitimately worthless to me. The doofus gave plenty of promising interviews last year just to straight up sabotage us most of the year with the lineups he was running/starting. What he says means **** all until we actually see the on court product.
Also the whole “too many perimeter guys, not enough minutes to go around” stuff is only a problem if you play Prince and Kuzma real minutes. Solution: don’t play Prince at all, because he sucks, and make Kuzma a backup 4.

One concern I have is, that we don't prioritize Porter as a large facilitator of the offense. That was a major plus of his, that made him work so well last year. He was locked in on both sides of the ball. He seemed to play off of Giannis way better than Lillard. I keep hearing talks about running the offense out of Giannis more, which could negate the effectiveness of KPJ. We won a lot of regular season games doing that over the years, but come playoff time that seems to fail with teams walling him off.

Will be interesting to see what Turner we get next year. He averages 1.2 makes on 36% over his career but made 2.2 on 40% last year.

As long as Giannis keeps his 3 attempts down, we've got a big chunk of usage that should be in the basement in 3PA rate. So we should keep that context in mind when we look at team attempts. Top 10 probably still doable but not a certainty. 42% of our FGAs were 3s last year, but if you exclude Giannis, it was 51%, which would be #2 in the league.
I'm certain that being by far the worst offensive rebounding team in the league hurts us worse than not taking enough 3s. That's probably not going to stop unless Turner spends a lot less time above the break than Brook did. And doing that would probably reduce the proportion of our 3PAs. Maybe better ball movement puts teams in rotation and creates some space for guys to crash.

Hey, they managed to be 17th in the league per 100 in 3PA last year with Dame Lillard on the team. I'm totally sure that will go up without him

This never stopped us from being 5th, 4th, 5th, 8th, 4th, and 2nd in attempts the previous 6 straight seasons. It's a uniquely Doc thing.

Maybe the waive Livingston and give Livingston a two way spot? He still gets the NBA salary and the Bucks are so far under the tax, it won’t matter.
More likely they do this with Tyler Smith.
