Just great.

Where are you getting that number? A 2/48.5 starts at $23.3M.

That's what ESPN reported in an article I excerpted above...

It doesn't work with the numbers unless there is a bonus/incentive clause on Kuminga's contract. But incentives count toward the aprons, regardless of whether they are likely or unlikely.

Dubs got what they wanted and hopefully he lands on a team that wants him at the deadline.

Biggest downside for me is reading everyone bitching about him until he is gone.

If he plays team ball I won't bitch, I will celebrate!

Then maybe the agent is lying about the amount.

Otherwise, hopefully MDJ can package him for someone who fits better.

Actually looks like the warriors didn’t up their offer and he didn’t get an extra 1 M through this negotiation.

What exactly did Kuminga and his agent accomplish with all this nonsense?

Right now, I see a disconnect from what Shams is reporting (2/48.5) and what the ESPN article states is Kuminga's starting salary (22.5). So, unless there is an incentive clause in the deal, which would still count toward the aprons, someone is off here.

Yea something doesn’t seem to add up. But they’re signing Seth today but it doesn’t say it’s an e10 contract.

The good? Seth has a chance to get his 1,000th career three with the team and retire as a Warrior. The bad? Good Lord is this team vertically challenged.

Charania is reporting that Golden State increased its two-year offer by a total of $8MM during negotiations and gave Kuminga a 15% trade kicker.

8M from what? Is he saying there was a 2/40 deal? Shams definitely getting intel from Turner to make it seem like this delayed signing was worth something

The first part doesn't match up to any of the media reports that were released over the months. The trade kicker makes the first season a bit higher than on a standard 2/48.5, which confuses me because I don't see how they fit Seth under the 2nd apron.

It sounds like the Warriors have a team option. Did the Dubs pull the offer of a 2 year deal with a team option leaving Kuminga with only this 1+1 deal or the QO? If that's the case, then Kuminga and his agent negotiated in reverse all offseason.

Aaron Turner in damage control after another awful offseason at his job.

My only open question/concern is if this amount + the Seth signing means we aren’t getting Melton or maybe Melton is the guy waiting until Nov 15th (maybe still recovering from injury anyway?). I had assumed if we went this high with the contract we wouldn’t have signed Richard to the roster, gone with Seth and use Richard as a 2way…. really hope this doesn’t risk the Melton situation. But i’ll wait to see before panicking.

Also, happy for Kuminga that he at least is getting paid a huge amount this year… Turner screwed up his long-term deal but at least he didnt get stuck on the QO. Not sure why so many people on here want Kuminga to be punished for his free agency timing and bad agent. As long as we get Melton and Seth i’m happy JK gets as much as possible while also Dubs having flexibility with trades and the team option. This should be a win/win.

Nobody here "wants Kuminga to be punished." Warriors fans don't want the team to overpay for a player and end up with an big unmovable contract. That kind of mistake can be the difference between playoff contention and being a lottery team. It can also cost you draft assets just to unload that kind of mistake. Fortunately, management properly assessed Kuminga's market value, stuck to their guns and called every bluff Kuminga's agent offered up. It would be nuts for any Dubs fan to not to be pleased with the job management did with this negotiation.

Yes. This thread should be re-named "Kuminga and agent negotiate against themselves seeking eventual agreement on minimum contract." :D
