Oh yeah, he other thing Kuminga did - remember this was part of his 1+1 offer - was concede to language added to the contract to remove the no-trade clause that comes with a one-year guaranteed deal.

I would imagine that 15% trade kicker was a little incentive to remove the no-trade clause. He could earn an additional $1.3-1.7M bonus if he's traded after the January 15th deadline has passed.

Second Apron aside, does that give the Warriors more outgoing salary to match to an incoming player in trade?

No. The bonus would be paid by the Warriors are part of a trade. That bonus, whatever amount it ends up being, goes against the Warriors' team salary.

The Warriors would need to account for that bonus when dealing with the 2nd apron upon the completion of a trade.

In that sense, the Warriors would need to take back less in a trade than they send out partly due to the trade kicker.

The good news is that the Warriors-Jonathan Kuminga contract saga is over.

The bad news for Kuminga is that his agent negotiated for him a lesser deal than he could have received from the Warriors, and that same agent dragged him and his reputation along on an embarrassing and quixotic quest for self-aggrandizement in the process.

But, hey, Aaron Turner got his name out there.

After Tuesday, he should regret that decision.

If what Siegel is reporting are the final contract numbers, I had Kuminga's contract down correctly. It's Melton's contract that messed me up. I had him at the 2-yr vet minimum, but if a player is signed at two years on a minimum salary contract, they use the actual salary, not the 2-yr vet salary. That explains why they have to dick around with Seth.

Two different reports. Two different numbers for Kuminga and Melton. Because of the 15% trade kicker, I believe Siegel's report (via Bobby Marks) is the correct one. Then again, maybe I'm wrong again. Time for sleep here in the Central time zone.

The E-9 contract is only minimally guaranteed ($15k) against training camp injury.
