This. The BYC issue made it extremely difficult to trade now. He can easily be moved in Jan.

Valuing Kuminga like an allstar but giving him DNPs in the playoffs and only playing him when you get an injury. Make it make sense lol

I think most dubs fans put it on the front office. They had three decent lottery picks and only needed to hit 1 but whiffed on all of them. Could have had Hali, franz or sengun. Just one makes us a hell of a lot better.

No Jerry West. Myers rode coattails.

With everyone assuming Kuminga will be dealt after the turn of the calendar year, it's going to be interesting watching this marriage of convenience for the next three months. Warriors would certainly like Kuminga to produce well enough to fetch something decent in a trade but Kuminga's minutes are likely to be a minus for winning games. And Kuminga has no incentive to be a team player here.

if i were the Kerr i would not play him at all. Warriors have enough players to make top 6 without him and his value will continue to drop if he does not work out with the rest of the vets. Just put him on DNP and trade on Jan so that he would be healthy enough for the new team.

Loved when Lacob hired Jerry…it gave the Warriors credibility for the first time in my fandom.

But….Jerry went on to the Clippers who traded a future league and finals MVP for broken down guys and Myers turned KD leaving into dLo which he turned into Wiggins and JK which led to another championship.

Shams reports 2/48.5, but the ESPN article says the salary this season is $22.5M. So, unless there's an incentive clause in this deal, which would still count against the aprons, those reports don't match up.

Good deal for both sides. Kuminga gets a sizable guaranteed sum and the dubs a lot of flexibility with his contract. He really didn't have much leverage to be honest.

still a lot considering his scoring efficiency, combined with weak shooting and defense...but he is 23 though he hasn't improved much each season, if he was 30 with those numbers hes a vet min player

They got what they wanted. This was their offer from day 1. How did they get played?

lol yeah they literally got everything they wanted. Only 1 year of guaranteed money with a team option and now he's tradeable as well this season. I would say it's mission accomplished.

Oh yeah they got everything they wanted, for sure, light years ahead amirite? They definitely didn't poison the well... It's going to be hilarious when they try to move him but can't get any value.

If they don't want him back they decline the team option.

The problem is it's a pillow contract but Kuminga doesn't have a clear role to increase his profile there. It's the same issue with Grimes.

What exactly was the alternative? Sign a mediocre player (Kuminga) to a big money long term deal?

Worst case the Warriors trade him as expiring flotsam in a deal or let him expire. Best case is he plays well and they opt him in (or trade him for positive value). Where’s the downside for the Warriors here?

All are true.

West built/saved from themselves that dynasty.

And Myers road coattails.

And…Myers got the KD to Dlo to Wiggins right (but come on…that’s a one off of Wiggins playing like a superstar for a few months of his life…besides that Myers didn’t do anything really). But, he gets credit for that trade progression and the results.

Good. This means the Suns will stay below the second apron and we can run with what we have rather than something we don't need.

Buddy is not starting over Podz (or Melton or Moody).

It will almost certainly be:

Steph / Melton / Seth
Podz / Buddy / GP2
Jimmy / Moody / Richard
Dray / Kuminga / Santos
Horford / Post / Trayce

Tons of lineup options throughout the season. Tons of age/injury/athleticism issues. Tons of flexibility with trades come January.

Overall its been another very smart and predictable offseason of moves for Dun Jr. He’s been much better than Myers last half of his tenure.

Didn't know you got Melton but that's a good choice. Hield would start over Melton though (the latter is a vet min guy although solid in what he can provide). Backup PG is a major weakness for the Warriors. If Podz isn't helping out it's going to be worrying
