Being a bad quarterback doesn’t preclude you from having a decent playoff run and helping your team, which was the case with Peyton, Foles, and Dilfer.

Really there’s only one case in modern history where a team won a Super Bowl despite a bad performance from the quarterback throughout the playoffs, and that’s Brad Johnson in 2002. One case in 40-something years doesn’t really help anyone’s argument.

Ravens defense in the post season that year -

Wildcard: gave up 3 points
Divisional: gave up 10 points
AFC Championship: gave up 3 points
Super Bowl: gave up 7 points

They gave up 23 total points over 4 playoff games, that is just ONE game for most defenses.

And? Next year with another quarterback Elvis Grbac same defense gave up more points because he kept throwing interceptions and backed them in their own red zone.

Their defense went from 10.3 PPG to 16.6 PPG, pretty notebale.

Going from Dilfer to Gerbac wasn't the issue on offense, it was losing Jamal Lewis to injury that year.

Interesting Ravens defense couldnt stop that kick return in the super bowl to lower their points per game

Special Teams points do not go into defensive PPG stats. I was just giving you final scores

They had essentially the same players on defense. If any offense could win with that defense then any quarterback or running back should do the job, no?

Those same players, while still very good, did drop off from 2000.

10.3 PPG to 16.6 PPG

What are you even arguing here though? That defense didn't win the Super Bowl for the 2000 Ravens? It was Trent Dilfer?

Dilfer himself would argue against you.

Yeah defensive players didnt change but offensive players changed and the team performance got worse. Co...could...could it...Could be it because offense matters?

No, even the best defense in history needs a decent quarterback play. Otherwise Elvis Grbac would have a ring now.

Guys, Dilfer wasn't even that bad of a QB. He was a decent starter. At least he was in Seattle for a year.

Damn I dont remember Zach Wilson in AFC championship game. Also you cant measure defense by PPG because QB mistakes go into that.

I see the set up coming. That is the only reason why Dak hasn't won the Super Bowl or any playoff games. He doesn't have an elite defense. I see it coming. :wizard:

There has to be a reason for this mental gymnastics to prove quarterbacks don’t matter lol

Considering the eagles games that came down the stretch in their playoff runs thinking Dak would win a super bowl with Eagles is a laughable preposition.

Look, I hate Hurts and the Egals as much as the next guy and Cowboy fan. For whatever reason, I will say there are two differences between Hurts and Prescott. Hurts doesn't make mistakes and turn the ball over in big games and moments when the game is on the line.

Offense and Defense are equal both impact every play equal and the final score. If the QB completes a deep TD pass, that is also because of the opposing defense.

Yeah ability to operate the offense and keeping calm under pressure what separates quarterbacks in playoffs. That's why Mahomes still takes his teams to super bowls despite being an average qb. If we take out the playoffs and end of games, there isnt much difference between Dak and Hurts. Dak might be better lol.

I'm not saying he's the reason they won. But he was way better than Zach Wilson, or some other scrub name you want to throw out there.

Dilfer won because at one time he played for Seattle.

Turns out Elvis Grbac does have a ring, with Niners nonetheless. Color me ashamed.

Peyton Manning in 2016 -

9 TDs (worst of all starting QBs) 17 INTs (only Blake Bortles had more) and a passer rating of 67.9 (worst of all starting QBs)

That is the epitome of winning with a bad QB

Not Dilfer (who was below average though)

Go watch his Seattle highlights. They're somewhat impressive.

Peyton Manning had a passer rating of 75.4 with 539 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception in 3 games in the 2015 playoffs

League average passer rating for 2015: 76

Good damn it Peyton
