I just dont see how we get close to that number playing the double big lineup for long stretches. KAT really isn't a self creation 3 pt shooter because he has mostly a set shot....so you need to scheme him to take a lot of 3's (meaning if wings guard him he won't get a high volume amount of 3's up he only really does that when he plays center). Mikal and OG don't take a high volume from ATB 3's they are mostly from the corner.

Brunson has stretches where he gets them up but with a 2 big lineup he struggles to get the proper spacing to do such.

I certainly want to use the double big lineup for stretches especially when interior defense is needed or we are going up against a true offensive hub center like Embiid or Joker ect...but I just have a hard time seeing the high volume of 3's without KAT at the 5.

mitch first sub out for yabusele maybe? or for clarkson

maybe but I want to avoid as much KAT and Yabu as possible. That would be a brutal defensive 4/5 and a bit slow. At least with Hart or Deuce you have some switchability and better POA defense.

Yes offensively it has potential but Yabu isn't a good defender...and neither is KAT really.

depending on josh hart was a problem with thibs creativity/tactics, as i mentioned. the star players playing minutes was not the issue. they ended the season competing on the court, not on the injury list. there are a number of issues with thibs as a coach which is why i agree with the pivot to a new one. but minutes police analysis has always been lazy and mostly parroting media narratives to me. no offense to you personally my brother in spree

Except minutes were absolutely an issue. Players were gassed and said as much and, teams openly game planned for it to beat us.

except it wasn't KAT and Brunsons minutes that were the issue. Isola is acting like 35 or 37 mpg for your 2 best players is unheard of. 30-35 mins is the norm. the issue with thibs was having 3 starters in top 5 in mpg all playing 37+ mpg. none of them were our 2 best players and one of them shouldn't have even been a damn starter at all

He was playing dudes too much. He was playing dudes too little. Minutes distribution was a huge problem. KAT getting injured in the final minutes of a blow out. Hart out of gas in the end. Mikal complaining about minutes. Brunson even mentioned being gassed at one point. So did KAT. IDC what Isola says. He's a moron. I know what the players said though. Minutes were an issue.

i agree with your general analysis but truth be told with the pieces we added most lineups outside our starting lineup are gonna be focused on putting points up more than defending

Lineup I would like to see.

Brunson
Deuce
Mikal
OG
KAT

5 out spacing lineup (nearly impossible to guard and has our 3 best perimeter defenders in it to help with Brunson/KAT defensive issues)

Brunson
Clarkson
Hart
Yabu
Mitch

Brunson and Clarkson scoring lineup. Hart/Yabu/Mitch are tough physical crashing the glass and setting tough screens. Hart and Mitch actually work well together. For there lack of shooting you can't play a center on Hart because Mitch will kill them on the glass if a wing is on him. Lot of extra possessions even if Brunson/Clarkson are inefficient with there shots.

Brogdon
Deuce
OG
KAT
Mitch

2 big lineup with good defenders all around KAT

you can mix and match lineups but a couple things. I want Hart with Mitch as much as possible. That mitigates teams wanting to play a big on Hart. Because of the threat of Mitch looming on all the offensive glass.

If your playing Brunson/KAT together your defense probabaly won't be great so if thats the case make sure your offense is going to outscore them. So that means KAT at center with Brunson. If KAT and Brunson are in together we probably won't be a top 10 defensive team regardless even if Mitch is in. Too much to make up for...teams will still search them out on defense and then you will hurt the offense. Want to see some LEGIT 5 out lineups to really see how that unlocks the team.

I'm not counting on Brogdon for anything just yet, for one who knows if he makes the team and who knows if he's going to be healthy. Right now the theory of Brogdon is more than the reality of him but I guess we'll see how the preseason works out, maybe that perception will change by opening night.

We're gonna do damage this year folks and I don't say that lightly. We have to stay healthy and take advantage of the depleted division.

It wasn't Hart as a starter that was the problem. Iy was the way Hart was used. Mitch still has the center cloggong up the lane. KAT at the 4 still allows you to put a wing on him and put a wing on Brunson. It's movement and pace. That's the key. Play faster, force decisions and don't let opponents sit and rest while you pound th bair out the ball.

My guess is they try out a bunch of different lineups to appease the fans and FO then eventually circle back around to what they had last season.

Minutes were an issue for the team. Period. Trying to limit it to 2 players that you think didn't play too many minutes doesn't excuse anything. Players all talked about it including the stars. Other teams openly spoke about it as a way to beat us. Minutes were a problem.

you're misunderstanding my point, which is that exerting players was not the issue. putting liabilities on the court for long stretches for no good tactical reason besides appreciating their effort level was the issue

Exerting players factually was a problem though.

i think all of these things can be true at once and reasons why we made the change. i see all your points (spree, JB, raja) and don't think any of them are wrong.

looking forward to how this plays out myself.

thanks for everything, thibs.

If they trade Pacome they better get good value back for him. If they are trading him just to clear space to load up ageing vet mins it will continue this front office's highly questionable asset management.

Edwards wrote that they value Pacome more and he had a very impressive summer (he must mean after Summer League). They see him as having potential and perhaps Kolek won't get to play. The issue is would trading Kolek open enough cap space? So they need to choose between greater future potential vs. a small present advantage in games. Generally, Leon seems to be earning his salary, so we'll see what they do.
