While I don't expect him to sustain that level, and we should take it with a bit of a grain of salt because so far this season I don't think teams have really emphasized rushing the passer.

Still, this is a very encouraging development. If McKivitz can remain in the top 10, its going to be a great development for the 49ers. In which case, locking him up earlier this season will be looked back upon as a hugely beneficial move.

Wasn't that long ago when 9er nation had the torches and pitchforks out and were ready to tar and feather McKivitz (myself included).

McKivitz might be a case where Kyle and co just might have been more football saavy than the fanbase.

I don't remember McKivitz being a huge issue for fans, just a position that we could upgrade, biggest issue has been with Brendel, LG and who'll take over for Trent eventually

I believe they’re training Drew Moss to be his replacement and they’re waiting for him to be ready. He played really well in the offseason/preseason and they really like him. If he doesn’t well then the inside of our line is pretty set for the foreseeable future with Puni and Colby at the guard spots

Moss and Colby are intriguing but still a huge question mark, at the end of the day we're talking about an UDFA and 7th rounder. So far Colby has a 38 passing grade per PFF, so not good (run blocking he's at 65.3) but I'm willing to give him the year to see where he ends up

Welp, it might be 3 TD win by LA.

Lol.

No QB1, WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1. How many times has that happened in NFL history?

Its going to be ugly.

We just gotta hope that CMC doesn't get driven 20 feet into the ground. Not that they are going to concede a loss before the game even starts, but when it inevitably gets out of hand we better see an exclusively Robinson, Jordan, Gurendo backfield.

Also missing multiple starters on defense, depending if Green plays. It's gonna be ugly

Don't forget LG1, WR5, and WR6. Nightmare.

I am playing against McCaffrey in fantasy this week, so the above plan looks good to me....

We should go with a 5 RB set. Send them all out there with Juice

I am glad they are sitting them all at once. Giving up a game to get healthy is the best plan for now.

Yeah the rookie Jordan some playing time. Robinson has not impressed and I am not sold on gurendo either.

If this was a coaching decision with a longer-term focus, and not just medically preordained I am impressed with Kyle’s willingness to change. This would go against his (and many coaches) ‘now is all there is’ mentality, which he has demonstrated to an extreme degree in the past. I wonder of Bosa’s loss (coupled with other factors like Trent and imo CMCs decline) has them thinking more rebuilding year than our record might normally warrant. Or it’s just getting us better for the season. Either way, progress of a kind.

Bill Barnwell has Nik Bonitto leading the DPOY race - and no mention of Fred Warner. Such a kick in the crotch. I liked Bonitto more than Drake Jackson in that draft, though admittedly I thought Jackson had more upside given his more prototypical build.

This looks like it is going to be a brutal game. Couldn't have a Thursday night game at a worse time. It could get ugly. Not expecting a win, onlty to get through tonight with no more injuries and hopefully with the extended period start to get some guys back

They're going to have to get some pass rushing help because Stafford had too much time.

Rams averaged 7 yards a play because he had time for his WRs to run crossing patterns 20-yards downfield.

That secondary won't hold up with the amount of time opposing QBs are getting.

Yeah, in the 2nd half, it felt like the Rams hardly ran the ball since they had so much time to pass

According to KS, Kittle is a longshot to play week 6. Mustapha appears to be the first one that will be back. I doubt Purdy plays next week. Unless Mac can't go, Purdy should just sit and get healed up. I don't think he was ready last week.

Is Mac tradable? He is looking like a starter that some teams would find quite valuable. Trade him in a couple weeks for a really good d lineman.

Reunion perhaps?

I didn't like the pick at the time, and wasn't much of a fan after he got to SF. However, SF currently needs bodies. While Jackson and Saleh didn't overlap in SF, Jackson should be somewhat familiar with the system as Ryans carried over some of the same concepts.

That said, SF is not listed as one of Jackson's planned visits. Also, worth noting that SF needs warm capable DL bodies to plug in immediately. Jackson has been effectively out of football for almost 2 calendar years. Getting medically cleared/passing a physical is one thing, while being ready to take live snaps is another thing entirely.
