Get that bag Jovic! At least his IQ is above room temperature. Same cannot be said for players who shall not be named.

Lot of cash for a guy that racks up DNP-CD on a regular basis.
Did Riley not notice he wasn't playing, maybe his naps were longer than he realized.

He wasn't playing last season, because he got hurt, not because his not good enough or talented enough, though at times a lot of players don't play because of various of things that has nothing to do with what the players skill set are.

Basically an MLE deal, so good one for the Heat and for him, who at 22 hasn’t really proven much. Could end up being a good deal.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I'm kind of out on him. If it were me, I would made him play out the season. I'm pretty sure he'd be looking at 4/30 if he did so going by what he's shown. Hope he lives up to their faith in him.

Seems like a fair deal in todays market. He's 22, improved every season, shoots the 3 well and you cant teach height

MLE money for a guy who hasn't played more than 46 games in any single season and really hasn't shown a whole lot when he has played.

Best-case scenario is Jovic has an Avdija-esque breakout; worst-case is Miami repeats its failed signing of Josh McRoberts at almost 3x the total.

you take about any rookie extention signed in the last decade and see these players rarely get paid on what they have "proven" but rather on percieved potential (at least partially). some of those guys end up to be a Jaylen Brown, some just become useful\average and some obviously never live up to that potential and salary but still, the potential is baked in for 21-23 year olds that are eligible for a rookie extention

I think every team in the league would have given Jovic (at 22 years old) 4\62 based on the combo of production and potential, nothing to see here

He took some time to develop, but plenty of arguments against him are taken out of context. He was playing well last season when he had an unfortunate hand injury. He has shown plenty of flashes to expect further growth. The Heat really like him and he will have a bigger role this year. During media day there seems to be a consensus within the team that Nikola is the main candidate to break out. It's basically a MLE team for an only 22 year old versatile 6'10 wing, this deal could end up very team friendly. Nobody expects him to become a star, he also won't be paid like one.

He just got 22 less than three months away...
Ofc he isn't fully developed.
Most You can say he has had too many small injuries.

And this summer he was very strong at Eurobasket, Serbias 2nd best player.
He has much potensial. I would understand the comments on him if he 26 in the same situation...he will be 26 after this contract ends.

Great deal. This board mostly doesn't follow him or the Heat, so if he stays healthy then I predict this topic will fall into obscurity and then be bumped within a year and a half due to him proving the Heat right. Of course, if he falls into injury proneness, it will be bumped to prove that it was premature.

Less money than Patrick Williams got, in a bigger Cap year, good deal for the heat couting on him improving, Pat Williams didnt improve since his rookie year, but Jovic needs to play more games to be worth it. good for both honestly

Two years from now, Pat Riley will refuse to include Jovic in a Wemby deal

I think this could end up being a very good bargain contract ala Zubac's in the future. Jovic is very talented and is only 22, could easily see him produce peak Hedo numbers in his prime if given a bigger ball handling/playmaking role.

He's shown a lot more than Patrick Williams.
