According to Fanspo's trade machine, if we sign Grimes to a contract starting at $14.8 million or less, we could legally S&T him plus Drummond for Eason plus Capella.

Right. But HOU can’t. They are hard capped at the 1st apron already and only have about 1M of wiggle room. So you have to craft a deal that Grimes will accept, and where both Philly and Houston take back less money, and keep in mind Grimes only counts 50% outgoing salary for Philly.

There's a rumor out there Sacto is interested in Oubre since they didn't get Kuminga.

Oubre and Drummond for Saric works monetarily. That saves about 8M. So Grimes 3-42 would leave them only about 4M over the tax line. They'd also have to sign another minimum.

I'd trade the pick or Grimes + lesser picks for Eason, but Grimes + LAC 1st seems like quite the overpay.

Grimes to the Lakers could make some sense. Pretty good fit in the starting lineup and they project to have cap space.

I feel like the Pelicans would be an interesting partner for Grimes, but we'd likely be interested in Herb Jones or Saddiq Bey who are injury risks. Grizzlies too, but would we want a Brandon Clarke who tore his achilles two years ago?

Tari Eason does feel like a guy that makes the most sense and Houston would be pretty dangerous with a scorer like him. He's also from Houston and went to Houston, so it would definitely be easy to convince him to get on board with that trade.
