Also, the kicker is automatically activated when the trade is official, so it's never really a part of the Warriors ledger.

Welp. I guess we need to play JK and boost his trade value. Does his salary match with Trey?

Well, I would think someone has to account for it, so I assume the team receiving the player in a trade would have it on their cap sheet?

Absolutely. It becomes part of his salary for the receiving team, both in matching salaries and after.

So theoretically the Warriors can take back a little more in matching salary (assuming they aren't up against the second apron like they are right now).

It very close - the difference in salary is $2.5 mil. So for example, once Kuminga becomes trade eligible Warriors could trade Kuminga, Podz, and their 2028 frp to Pels for Trey Murphy.

Taking back more salary than is sent out in a trade hard caps a team at the first apron, so the Warriors wouldn't be able to do that.

No, as a 1st apron team they can't take back even $1 more in matching salary. Kuminga will count for exactly his salary, 22.5M if they trade him.

Edit: Ahh, didn't see this was already answered.
