Mitch did play great. It has less to do with Mitch because his impact will be the same no matter where he plays because he's just an impactful player.
The starting group still look disjointed as a whole to start and the offense looked clunky. I think we had 10 pts with 5 minutes to go in the 1st qtr. After that point I don't think we ran much double big and the offense started opening up.
it didn't go perfectly for the 1st 5 minutes so lets change it all lol. brunson was 2-8 playing in this new offense so we should probably bench him too or fire mike brown if we're making decisions this quick.
p.s. we were starting a guy who won't even be in the rotation
You think I'm basing this opinion solely off the first 7 minutes of the game....I've been saying this ever since teams started putting a wing on KAT. We now aren't even forcing a teams hand we are now gifting the opposition the ability to take our most efficient offense option out of the game. For him into spot up shooting and post ups.
And yes we were missing OG...still the point remains since OG isnt a shot creator.
Basically your saying I'm not really interested in getting up 3's...because that is what the double big lineup suppresses. And you would rather add the rim protection and offensive rebounding (which I understand that POV). I would rather enhance our advantage and make teams play to our style (similar to how Indy) who might not be the most talented but makes teams play to there style. Then say hey KAT isn't a good defender at the 5 lets try to mask that by putting Mitch with the starters.
I would rather add the POA defender...moves Mikal off ball which he is a more impactful defender...and then make teams have to guard a true 5 out.
Mitch is still playing 20-25 minutes a game...as a starter or as a bench player. His role/impact isn't changing. Its more the fit and how we want to play fast and shoot more 3's.
You cant have the worst defensive 5 in the NBA with Brunson and be serious about winning. If you dont play Hart together with Mitch there wont be much spacing issues because of KAT’s shooting. KAT can hold his own in defense as a 4 too when he isnt the primary rim protector, like his defense against Jokic. Yes having to play 5 out would be nice but not at the cost of having the worst paint defense in the league
