The Thunder will be happy to hear it.

Still top 4 protected and everyone knows Dave Silver loves cutting deals.

This unit has better flow. Vj, edwards, oubre at the 1-2-3 positions.

Drummond-Walker-Barlow at 3-4-5, should be the best rebounding trio for our team on the court

Didn't we say that about McCain in summer league and preseason last year?

Hard to really assess this team without McCain, Grimes, George, and Embiid. I know the latter two will be out a lot, but still, that's 3 of our 5 starters missing so far.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

We really need Jared, PG and hopefully Embiid healthy this year, or it will be a long, long season. Without them we are probably top 3 Bad. Its gonna be rough mustering motivation to watch them this year, which is bizarre, considering we have a 3rd pick..

Aren’t we talking about two different players?

Im one of Maxeys biggest fans, but since last season, it appears he reached ( or ir is very close) to his ceiling. Hes pretty good player, all star level, but i dont think he will be much better than that.

Maybe he can became a better passer, but i think his mid range jumper is bad, and hes trending to be be a low 30% 3 pt shooter with volume. I thought he was gonna be a 40% shooter, but after he became the main guard, his % cratered sadly( i know his numbers are affected because our team is crap, but he got worse). His game is basicaly run for the layup in a straight line or shoot 3s.

Things we know about Maxey: he is definitely not a number one, and he's an excellent number three. Better off ball than on.

I agree that chances are, he's hit his ceiling.

I still have McCain with bigger upside than Maxey. His shot is pure everywhere and he's crafty around the rim.

The way McCain moves without the ball is reminiscent of a certain guard in the Bay Area. It's hard to unsee that.

If he comes back playing like he did last year, I think you have to seriously entertain moving Maxey.

I think McCain has a better natural feel for playmaking, as well.

Just because of that 1-2 possessions of where he drove and relocate? I think you are underrating Steph Curry.

And to be honest, he wont be near as good as Steph unless the league allows Adem Bona to set moving screens like Draymond, Zaza, Bogut and Looney.

Regarding Brunson and McCain, I think being slow is actually a gift for both. Neither can blow past defenders, so they’ve mastered how to operate inside the arc and finish in the paint using footwork and angles. Maxey never developed that part of his game because he’s always relied on his speed. And when you are as good as shooter as he is, and as quick as he is, every space you get/see is a good shot or an open drive.

Maxey is superior to both in certain areas, but they also have strengths he doesn’t. For instance, Maxey is better than Brunson as a second or third option, but Brunson is clearly better suited as a first option.
