I think Lockridge is purely there to pinch run late in games
I wouldn't complain about giving a pinch-runner/great defender a spot under normal circumstances. However, this means that Yelich will probably get 4 DH starts against LHPs, which is obnoxious. He had a .660 OPS against LHPs this year, and has only been over .700 once in the last 5 years (in a <100 PA sample last year). He's not hitting LHPs, period. Hoskins has a career OPS of .882 against LHPs. Yeah, he fell short of that this year, but it was only 102 PA's.
You can get a lot more leverage out of matching up with Boyd and Imanaga than you can with a pinch-runner, especially since Yelich is a decent pinch-runner himself. For a team built around an identity of valuing everyone's contributions and no individual star being more important than what's best for the team, starting Yelich at DH against LHPs smacks of old-school entitlement (not blaming him of course).
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Boyd might not make it very long today. Would be huge to work their Pen hard today
