About 10 minutes of stress in the top of the 6th and a bit of an "okay, let's add some more runs on" feeling for the next 15 minutes then it was smooth sailing again. Contributions from everyone, pitching was excellent, defence was nearly perfect (aside from Santander missing that double off the wall which may have been caught by Straw) and we got deep into the Yankees bullpen.

I feel pretty damn good right now, but our chances of winning the series drastically increase if we can get to Fried early tomorrow.

that bases loaded sitch was butt clenching. every single run the Jays drove in alleviated the clench just a little more.

I'll give credit where credit is due since I usually rag on him, but Schneider actually managed the bullpen well. Unlike the Seattle 2022 series when he took Gausman out and brought in a LHP to face a batter that kills LHP, he brought in high velo Varland to face Stanton and it worked.

Yep. He managed this game flawlessly. Maybe the FO decided to let him make his own decisions this time instead of micromanaging him.

Heading into today, Weaver's last 10 appearances: 7 IP, 10 H, 10 ER

He had been great for the Yankees last season and the majority of this season, but he hit a wall down the stretch – and we have also had some success against him. Surprised to see him pitch in a meaningful spot today considering those things.

I do think he may have pulled Varland one batter too early, but Dominguez got the K, so it worked out.

Schneider has been really good all season. He’s a vastly different manager than he was 2 years ago.

He even referenced that in the interview with Sportsnet - just seems like he has more confidence in himself as opposed to just following the analytics blindly

Part of that may be to keep everyone fresh for tomorrow.

Regardless, in the post season it’s always better to have bullpen pitchers on a short leash vs leave them in too long

I think the FO is finally taking a more hands-off approach this year. They micromanaged the **** out of both Montoyo and Scneider in the past, and it almost always backfired.

Vlad Homer in his first at bat was a sight for sore eyes. Finally got the monkey off our backs and won a playoff game with this core.

The adrenaline was high today. Hoffman hitting 97. Varland throws the terminator 101 right by Stanton bases loaded. That **** was clutch man.

Fried and Rodon pitching the next two games, so the series is far from over. However, today was a nice win that was needed. Hoping they can carry this momentum against a real tough pitcher tomorrow.

Kirk really took getting thrown out at first on a right field single personally. Totally different looking player after that

Was impressed with the quality of ABs Santander had all game. You’re starting him tomorrow and maybe the rest of the way.

I think I’m going with the following lineup in game 2 (and choosing Lukes over Barger as the LHB to stay in; he looks a lot better at the plate than him):

Springer DH
Schneider 2B
Vlad 1B
Kirk C
Varsho CF
Santander LF
Lukes RF
Clement 3B
Gimenez SS
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.
